We got my fiance a 2009 lightning city xb9 awhile back,i just couldnt help myself!!!Anyway,i orderd the scg seat and that dropped her feet a little bit ,but we still need about an inch or more to get her heels down,i want to do it right,money is not really an option as much as perhaps parts availability,i need some help coming up with some ideas guys

You set it up for her weight too, right? That and the low seat that you have will help. If that still doesn't do it then there is the possibility of swapping out for low or scg suspension.

I haven't done this, but others have. Not sure if '09 presents any added issues. People have swapped out for the low shock and low 41 mm forks to lower XB's

I think the triple trees from the low or scg are needed too as most everything else has 43 mm forks.

First thing i did was set up the suspension,and i am leaning towards the scg setup,front and rear,i think this would give us what we need,i would really like to find someone that got stuck buying an scg,who wants to raise it and trade out all the parts,in a perfect world,i will buy if i can find,the local dealership is very lax at getting back to me on parts and availability though,i know the badwebers can come through for me with some part numbers and feasability

What I did to mine to drop it was remove the clips on the forks and slide the triple trees down 1.5" on the forks. For the back I modified a scg yellow spring shock. I cut the spring load adjuster off, cut a flat washer in half and welded it back together on the shock, this allowed the spring to sit further down on the shock.

Some are against changing the geometry of the bike. The bike still takes the curves with no problem at high speeds. I have not noticed any adverse effects.

just hope those pinch bolts hold that extra force...

and yes ive seen forks get banged up through the trees when the wheel catches a pothole or something.

anyway, odds are you could find someone to swap you the parts you need, off your regular for a low. its happened frequently over the years. ive done that myself.

Well,its not too close to the ground for my sweetie,at 5'2 her heels are about an inch and a half off the ground,and if anyone reading this doesnt have anything constructive to say,i wish you would not say anything at all

Post an ad in the classifieds and on your local Craigslist. I bought an SCG last year and wanted/needed the regular S. Found a local guy with a XBR who needed lower. DONE.

Make sure you swap everything except the upper triple: forks, lower triple, rear shock, and kick stand. Don't forget the kick stand!

Very straight forward swap. We did our two bikes in less than 4 hours.

i would be willing to make a swap for sure,as long as the other bike had similar miles,this bike is brand new,about 65 or so miles,all of which i put on it with her on the back

Someone has the yellow spring rear shock listed, check both the for sale and wanted because I don't remember where it was offered.

That would leave the forks to be scrounged up, go back a few weeks and you might find some, not too many weeks go by where someone doesn't want to sell/swap a short for regular set. Make sure to find out the diameter of the short forks compared to the diameter of your current forks, might need the triple trees too (sorry can't remember these things).

That's pretty much the best way to deal with this. I don't think you can get shorter springs and have everything work properly, so I won't call it an option. Not too sure about dropping the forks in the clamps, I don't think my 9R has that kind of drop in it and still have enough material to clamp down (need to check before saying good or bad). The way these are built, there are no links on the back that can be change to drop them, it's all up to the shock length to do the job.

As far as the swap goes, beggars can't be choosers. You take what is available if you want it done in a reasonable amount of time. If time is against you, then you might be able to buy two brand new short forks from the dealer. If the swap is older, then rebuild them before putting them on. There really aren't many other choices. If the other person says they have 5000 on them, then you can pretty know that they should have new oil put in while you have them off the bike, negotiate properly.

The only other alternative is to sell/swap the entire cycle for the Scg which in my opinion is a better way to do it anyway.

go to http://www.whaccessories.com/ they have a lowering kit that will drop it an inch it will run you 199 but if you want it lowered this is the only kit i found you will have to raise the forks though because it only lowers the rear shock.

well ,got with my dealership,and the parts for the scg conversion are still available,forks triple tree,and all that stuff,it looks like the safest route to go,and will keep it roughly stock,and still under waranty.Thanks a heap for all the input guys !!!!
