PLEASE can anyone or everyone out there willing and able please go to your xb and put your finger on your air scoop on the air box? I'm talking about the front corners of the air scoop on the air box cover. A month or so ago I noticed my air scoop wAs loose, it was missing a clip on the under side of the air box (the scoop, clip, and air box are all one part.) My air box cover was replaced by warranty. Now on my new air box cover the same thing has happened. I checked out a buddy's xb and noticed his air box has play at the same corner. this indicates that he has a clip missing too. My theory is that many people are missing clips on their air scoops but don't know it. like I said if anyone can push down on the scoop just to the left or right of the gas cap, see if it moves. My first one just moved up and down, and this one has even moved forward due to the place that the clip is missing. the air scoop is held on the box by these clips going around the outer edge of the scoop.

Are you talking about the mushroomed plastic holding the screen? Both my front and left have broke, looks like the other two are also soon to go from all the bouncing around. I tried to epoxy it, but couldn't do it without it being an eyesore through the clear plastic. I wasn't sure if this would be covered under warranty, this is good news.

Did the dealer give you any problems replacing the airbox cover for this reason?

Spacecapsule1 - Yes, and no, The air scoop is held on to the air box by little clips and there is no buell part number. The dealer will replace it under warranty. However It has happened to me twice. the dealer ordered the 2nd air box cover, but they have never had anyone come in with it before. I want to get a lot with the problem so we can go to buell and resolve the problem.

All those "clips" are is basically molded/melted plastic. I bought my bike red and ended up trading a guy for his white. The white plastics were from an 03'. I had to cut those tabs so I could keep the air intake piece. With the air box cover being solid, I was able to use a thin bead of gorilla glue to hold the piece on.

There was a picture of a bike that I saw a while back that had 5 stainless steel bolts holding the air screen in place. It looked pretty trick! It would be a cheap fix it you can't get it warrantied. I thought it was done just because it looked bad-ass.

I checked mine and it is loose. It has plastic melted? around the black part but nothing on the corners if that makes sense.
