I really want to buy the D & D exhaust but i would like to do the install myself "i have a service manual". I know that if i did it my self it would void my 1 year buell warrenty. The question is i bought the Harley davidson extended 3 year warrenty on my bike would it void this warrenty as well? i really like the d & d sound but dont want to pay my dealer to put it on. In my 1000 mile service they didnt put the plug wire on all the way and cause a bad idle and i had to fix that my self.

Reuben before you do anything talk to your dealer and tell him what your intentions are and see if they will still honor your warranty if yes you will still have to bring it to them to reset the TPS.If not you have two choices leave it alone and enjoy what you have or choose another dealer.Good luck.

Get it in writing...seriously dont take any thing at face value.

Or if you do decide to change it...dont tell a single soul on this board & if you have issues swap the stocker back on. Buell/HD has lawyers that are reading this board & taking notes.

Comes down to CYA & trust nobody.

He asked the question not me. I guess the Buell faithful would just give him the old speech about how great the newtwork is & dont worry about anything. 2 sides to every story, get all the info you can & make your choices. Unfortunately too many folks here only want to give a new person a one sided slanted version.

The fact is there are a lot of horrible Buell dealers out there & if given the opportunity to screw over a customer they will do so. How many horror stories have we read right here on this board as well as others about a Bueller getting the shaft or plain shitty treatment?

It voids your warranty. If you don't beleive me, read it.

Nothing your dealer can write can madify a contract (the warranty) in which they have no privity.

Don't beleive me? Try going to the bank and writing down that you want to change the interest rate on your neighbors mortgage. The Brits . . gotta love this Common Law they saddled us with.

Common sense is.

Oh yeah...and watch out for the Black Buellicopters.

Please....

LOL...it all depends.

Plenty of people have had warranty work done on bikes modified in such a way as to void the warranty. As BadS1 said, it all comes down to the dealer. As Court said, even if they do write it down, they're not legally obligated to do any warranty work after that - you voided it, pure and simple.

If you want the pipe, either pony the dough to have them install it or put it on yourself and deal with the [potential] consequences.
