Be careful going from 1st to 2nd at high RPM's... Twice now I have let COMPLETELY let off the throttle, pulled in the clutch, popped it into second and let out the clutch a little too fast (still with no throttle) and the front tire hops right off the ground... This is on an XB12. |

Yeah, pretty neat, huh? Sunday afternoon, rode through most of 2nd with the front about a foot off the ground and and skipped the front going into 3rd. Addictive! Dave '03 XB9SL |

Thats one of my favourite things to do on my 9, to hoot away from the lights lift in first (while weight over front wheel to control it a bit) and then pop it up in second again. Have had it lift up again in third a coupla times, not able to repeat that at will though. |

This stuff is toooooo cool!!! In first gear crank the throttle and without touching the clutch lift the front wheel... and go into to second and lift the front tire just a touch... and unload the front end without any effort going in to third... GOD I LOVE THESE MACHINES!!!! (03 XB9S with race kit) |

M1 do about in between 55mph and 60 mph nail the gas and let the the clutch fly. She'll pull third gear mine will. |

Well, that's my point though. from first to second it'll do it with NO throttle, just crank inertia... I'm not a big fan of wheelies myself. edited by m1combat on December 03, 2003 |

5,500 RPM's seems to be the wheelie sweet spot on my 9R (with race kit). This is without using the clutch to cheat. This bike puts a big ol' stupid grin on my face every time I ride it |

Bads1, I would like to try that but is belt life an issue? Only wheelie I've done was from a standing start and that was unintentional, only done 600 miles on the bike though. Still learning the bike (1st Buell). The front end has got very light on quite a few occasions, and it's acceleration off the mark blows me away. |

My 9 does that also, I was a bit concerned at first as i wasn't trying to do it and I thought I was heavy enough to keep the front wheel down. |

This bike has definitely taught me smoothness coming off of an inline four. When I took the demo bike out for a spin, I was coming away from a stop sign kinda hard and when I shifted to 2nd I shifted like I always used to, got a nice surprise just like M1. |

FUNNY. I rode my bike for the first time yesterday. Got the fright of my life didn't expect it at all, powered into 2nd gear, and it just jerked off, did it a few times. I'm a bit stupid like that.........lol |

Bads1 that Drummer is worth waiting for, good looking sounding wellfitting piece of choice gear. I bought the bike to enjoy - thanks for the reassurance. BTW the FM states what looks to me to be very high torque values for the nuts on the front and rear clamps that hold the pipe on - surely they made a mistake - front 108 to 120 in-lbs, rear 48 to 60 in-lbs? |

That's only a few ft/lbs...not much at all. for comparison, the idler pulley is something like 30ft/lbs and the rear axle is 50ft/lbs. Happy to hear other people are getting the Drummer and liking it. I'm hoping to send in my stocker for a trade to Brian when I'm home for the Christmas holidays. Bryan |

The Drummer is a modified standard muffler for the XBs. Brian (Buckinfubba) and Kevin Drummer came up with it. You'll have to get in touch with Buckinfubba to order one. There's more information here, and here. Great pipe. Loved by all that have one. I plan on getting one at the first of the year. |

I am no good at that linking stuff. wyckedflesh email me if you want to know more buckinfubba@hotmail.com BadS1 kevin called me an hour ago to tell me your pipe has been cut open and is in process. In otherwords her cherry has been popped and she is becoming a real full grown natural born honey. if all goes well it will be done tonight. as long as no wrecked cars come in today.

Ah I am a starving MMI student. Those two links Glitch threw up answer what I needed to know. I also doubt I could go that long without my 12 to send you my pipe. I do have other two wheel transport but its not my 12. If finances change I will definately email you. (ECM and pipe is what I am talking not just pipe) |

"That's only a few ft/lbs...not much at all. for comparison, the idler pulley is something like 30ft/lbs and the rear axle is 50ft/lbs." Darthane, I agree with what you say but these nuts are pulling up clamps around the pipe with the torque multiplication of a worm-gear drive, not quite the same as just bearing down on solid metal. Well, I couldn't make myself strangle that Drummer like the FM was asking - will check those clamps for security soon... |
