I think he wants to flush the system out.

Hogs, I'm not sure which line you would want, but you're going to end up making a mess that way.

Change the oil and run the bike for 100 miles or so, then change the oil again. Repeat if you really feel the need.

I have seen devices that you plug in-line to flush the oil, usually go on to where the filter would go, that might be a better bet.

Chris,

Many brothers have advised against taking one's bike to the Harley place to have the oil changed.

The idea is that by changing one's oil oneself, one can learn about one's unit, save a little money, and do a better job.

I do hope you will take no offense if I say that I am not entirely sure that that counsel applies in your case.

Or to put it another way, whilst your concern about removing all of the old oil is admirable, your methodology leaves everything to be desired, if I understand it properly, ( not entirely sure about that:-)

Let's just say that the conventional way to change the oil is as follows;

1. Warm oil by riding the bike for five or ten minutes.
2. remove dipstick.
3. remove drain plug from bottom of swing arm. DO NOT DISTURB ANY OIL LINES.
4. if you are concerned about leaving contaminated oil in the engine, you may now run the engine for 3 to 4 SECONDS ONLY. You will observe about a cup of old oil being ejected from the drain hole. DO NOT RUN THE ENGINE ANY LONGER; PERMANENT DAMAGE WILL RESULT, SAVY?
5. Remove chin spoiler, oil filter, and replace with new oil filter, having filled it half way with new oil.
6. Carefully replace the drain plug and new o ring. Put in with your fingers, careful not to cross threads, do NOT over tighten, do NOT use published Buell torque settings.
7. Add three quarts of oil, replace chin spoiler.

Oh, and btw, might be a good time to order a Shop Manual. Never know when it will come in handy.

Just my .02ยข

Got it, Xl1200r's right, actually cheaper and less time consuming when you break it down and you get some riding while you "work" to ice the cake! Use a 10w40 dino blend for your "cleaning" quicker to temp and all that , Repeat once leaving original filter ON during repeat. $20-$25 dollars and 200 miles later you are"Orbit Gum Girl" sparkling!

Blow it out with the other end of the shop vac, good to the last drop. Oh yea, it'll blow the oil right out of your drain pan too.

Pan placed on shop floor under swingarm drain hole. Then moved to area under filter... contents of drain pan then transferred to the old oil container.
