Just tried to a few LED replacement bulbs in the turn signals on my '03 XB9SL.

Standard bulbs: Signals flash relatively slow.

One LED 1156 bulb(front or rear same side): Flashes very fast.

LED bulbs front and rear: Buzzing, NO flash, NO light.

Is it possible they draw so little current the circuit thinks the bulbs are out? I ended up using an LED bulb in the rear and left the standard bulb in the fronts. Flashes Fast!
Input, opinions, ideas...
TIA

The stock blinker needs to see an electrical load in order to operate correctly.

LED's do not provide that load.

Two ways to fix it:

1. Buy a more advanced blinker relay from American Sport Bike that will work with LED's.

2. For the do it yourselfers out there, you can wire one 10 ohm 10 watt wire wound resistor, (Radio Shack), across each circuit, ie: right and left.

Here is a little diagram that suggests an installation.

I just put LED signals on mine, and cross-referenced the part number of the relay that AmericanSportbike has on their site at O'Reillys.. it didnt fix my problem.

I bought a Turn Signal Load Integrator from a local harley shop, and it fixed it. It ran me about 35 bucks. Thats another option.

FWIW, the Grote flasher p/n 44893 (same unit American Sport Bike sells) worked like a charm for my LEDs. no fast blink.

I just bought electro pods from cycle gear and I was going to make them into turn signals. Will these not work either? Supposedly they work with all 12 volt vehicles. The glo kit I have installed from them doesnt have any problem but then again it isnt going thorugh any relays of the sort we are talking about

good thing I saved this thread. that is if you all havent retreated from it already. I have the same buzzing sound as Kaveman, at first, it appeared that I was going to get away with it when I only had 2 leds (back) and two bulbs (front) plugged in. Once I did all four leds, the buzz came. Many of you have suggested this grote flasher, is it pretty simple to install? And where is the part needing replacement located on an 06 12R?

Couldn't find BP232 or Grote 44893 locally, but NAPA ep35 ($14) is crossover from Grote and is a direct plugin to the xb12 socket. Now all my LED signals go blinky just like Momma taught'em!
