This week's Motor Cycle News has first pics of the new V-Rod powered Roehr superbike (minus bodywork), and it shows that with some clever thinking the Revolution motor fits into a chassis that is shorter in wheelbase than a Ducati 1098 and weighs under 200kg.
The bike shown is evidently a prototype and still has Yamaha R1 mufflers fitted, but it is looking good : )
Fuel is carried under the seat in the same way as the old Laverda 750S. Brakes are Brembo, suspension Ohlins and wheels Marchesini so it won't be a budget bike that's for sure!
It will be interesting to see if he gets the funding to take it beyond the prototype stage this time around.

I wouldn't think that Erik or Harley are to worried about this or they wouldn't be selling him engines. Or Buell has something in the works that will be much better.

Erik isn't interested in the Revolution motor, and Harley has nothing that directly competes with it. Plus, they're selling them the engines because Roehr will give them MONEY for them.

Remember: It's a BUSINESS!!

Some information from the Roehr Web site:

Cost: $23,000
120 hp
Wheelbase: 56 inches
Rake/Trail 24deg./ 97mm
Dry weight 435lbs
Seat height 31.5 inches

Engines are sourced through the dealer network, not the Motor Company.

Interesting bike, but with the introduction of the Ducati 1098, the hill this company needs to climb has just gotten a whole lot higher.

I've heard about 3 different engines that are supposed to go in that bike now. The last one I heard about was a Highland V-Twin I believe, now the V-Rod and I can't remember what they originally said was going in it. People have been talking about that bike for the two years I've been on this board and it still isn't in production. Probably never will be.

I think i'd rather have the $19,000 1098.

So, produce a weaker powered bike with an unproven engine (in this configuration) at a price point that is substantially higher than better competitive bikes.

Yeah, he'll sell a million.

$9,000. more and 40 HP less than a Duc 1098?
AND, the Duc also has Ohlins, Brembos & all the goodies.
Hmmm? Let me see? Roehr, Ducati, Roehr, Ducati?

They have not put too much effort into updating their webpage.

These photos were on there back in Sept 06.

The photos of the red bike are the old Highland powered RV1000 that never got off the ground due to lack of funding. The new bike has apparently been held up because the painter that Roehr sent the body panels to broke his hand or something similar. So rather than just get them done elsewhere he has delayed the press launch until his painter can do them. Sounds a bit Mickey Mouse to me but hey ho.
The new bike will look more like a Ducati 999 than anything else I believe.

There will be a limited market for these just because it uses a different motor and regardless of the fact that it is more exopensive and less powerful than the latest Ducatis.
Come to think of it, exactly the kind of people that buy Buells now : ).

Psssst, by the way, here is a good rumour....... Hyosung have just launched a 450 single cylinder 4 stroke engine that they are gong to be using in there own brand quads and a 450 trail bike, but they are also going to be selling the motor to other manufacturers for use in their bikes (and not just Fischer). Maybe the new off road Buell will be Korean powered ;)

Hey! When did the 1098 price go from 14k to 19k?

I was trying to give the benefit of the doubt to the Roehr.

With the base 1098 being $14,000, you could just about buy a Buell as a chaser.

Who says H-D has sold them the engine?
You can proto-type any bike with any engine.
There's only one manufacturer that has H-D engines that come with H-D warranty. Thunder Mountain. They are hardly a sport bike. IMHO H-D won't sell Roehr an engine.

Psssst, by the way, here is a good rumour.......
Sadly, I could see that happening. I'm not saying anything against the Korean engine, only that it would only fuel the Anti-Buellers.
