Are 2005 XBS stock mirrors different than 06 or 07 XBS stockers? Looks like they may have a different bend angle and made of shiny black plastic. Maybe for improved vision......? Anyone know for sure?

I'll have to check part numbers.

You need to ask Daves that question.

At Mid Ohio this past w/e, I had the chance to talk to the man in charge of parts procurement at Buell. We talked a little about a bunch of different parts and the mirrors were a short topic of conversation. It seems that the mirrors have been on the list of things to update for the last few years, but they are still the same, at least since the '03s came out.

Factors include: mirror glass minimum size, length of arm vs. vibration, break away ability in case of accident etc.

Sorry, but the short answer is they are still the same.

The mirrors that came on my 03 XB9S seem to have a shorter arm than the newer models. I had a perfect view of my shoulders.
I replaced them with bar ends.

Yes, they did. And are one of the first things you'll want to change/replace.

On my 05 lightning the back of the mirror is a sort of textured plastic, like line-x, and they are very "upright". I went to see some 07's the other day and of course they are the shiny metallic material now, but they seem to be much lower than mine...far less upright looking, just curious about any changes.
