Just wandering if anyone has purchased the buell tank bag and how they like it?

Also, I think this may be a CityX part, but does anyone know how I can get one of those big "X" that protects the tank/airbox? On the buell website there is a picture of it included with the gas tank crash pads but my dealer could not find it as a separate part. Help Please?

The tank bag is a protective area that hits the airbox, so as to not cause damage/scratch, so an "X" in conjunction with the tankbag may be a little overkill.

I have the tankbag, installing it was simple. Operation is just as simple. It maintains it's shape well, considering I usually leave it empty. I have yet to put the raincover on it, so I am not sure how well that performs/looks.

Overall I am happy with the bag. I've gone through a short shower while riding without the "raincover" and no water penetrated the bag.

If you want either of these, I would recommend Daves, from Appleton in the sponsor section.

Just got mine in today.. Its sitting in the box in front of me...

Its got some features I didn't even realize on the website.. The top map portion comes off.. which would be nice to leave the bag on and just take the map inside if you where having lunch or just taking a break..

The little extra bag has a rubber grommet for audio or possibly a mobile device.. Its got some pretty good reflective strips on the bag....

The X is not available as a separate part from Buell.

You might be able to get one from one of the guys that took one off of their city-X.

I put one on my white airbox cover. It does give a nice flat stable place for the
tank bag. I don't know if it protects more from scratches.

If your tank bag bottom and air cover are clean you shouldn't have any trouble with scratches.

I have the Buell tank bag on my XB12Ss. I like it although I've only used it a few times. I usually print a map or write directions on index cards and place in the map area when I take new routes.
