I am thinking about painting my frame, sub-frame, and swing arm. My question is how much is involved in tearing the bike apart to get the frame, sub frame, and swing arm to spray in a booth? I have a set of hand tools and am modestly mechanically inclined. I have an 03' XB9. I want to go black instead of the silver. I am wondering if its worth the time and hassle.

You can do it without tearing it down. Take your time and mask it and it'll turn out just fine.

yeah, i dont know bout the swing arm but i have seem pics of bikes all masked up for painting, and polishing, so it can be done.

but have have also see a bike on a stand with no frame, i think it is just like 5 bolts that hold it on, and you take it off of the motor. i am sure it is a little more involved than that, but i would try the masking route first

SVO1023, In order to complete "The Look" when out riding you should make sure to wear some corduroy bell bottoms, some platform boots and a tan leather jacket with lots of fringe.

I would also spend a few minutes before each ride meditating in front of a lava lamp..........

Neat look.
