Greetings,

Here is my Buell Dark. Fully Line-X coated body work. No more scratches! It took the guys 3 hours. It cost $185 out the door. Check out the cheese grater, no more holes. Maybe my back will stay dry!

Enjoy!

That's not bad but I prefer a good old paint job. Flat black or glossy but this finish look kind of weird to me.

No decals? I think it would look cool to do that over the tank lettering.

Can you edit your post and put a break between the pictures so it dosnt blow out the width of the page please.

Nice look, keep us up to date on how it holds up. Do they recommend anything for maintenance.

There is no recommended maintenance. The stuff is incredibly tough. I had to do a little material removal for fitment reasons. I really had to work at it with a pretty aggressive file. A grinder or dremel would have been better. I ride every day. It's about impossible to prevent hairline scratching in the paint over time. If I repainted it I would have had the same long time durability issues. Now it's a done deal. Gas won't discolor Line-X, it won't scratch or anything and I always wanted the flat black/dark look. I'm set.

As the self appointed King of No Bling I'm so going to Line-X a bike in the near future.

Too cool -- good job to both of you.

The rubber "X" would look good on the airbox cover.

Send your pipe out to get jet-coated black. That would finish up the look in my opinion.

Looks great. I am really surprised how much I like the Line X look.

I have an extra set of plastics sitting here that I may just have to have that done to! That looks too cool and zero maintenance. Now, what color......

Hey

Thanks for all the kind words. Jet Hot of the Drummer is next. Funny you should mention that Buellin_ri! I don't know how bugs will clean off yet, just had it done this past Friday. One of these days I will reinstall the rubber X on the airbox cover. The coolest thing was the Line-X was done in a day. No week + in a paint shop!
Voltage_vector, the Duke was a kick a** rig. I had it super tricked out, carb, exhaust, intake, carbon, brakes. I probably had a total of $11K in it when I sold it. The Buell is a better bike but Supermoto looks very cool!

Ejiii...looks great. You and Angelwild have a great idea there. You need to black out that subframe. It was my latest mod and really tied in the blackness of the bike.

here is a pic:

Again....way to be different in every sense!

That looks fantastic. Makes me curious what that LineX will do your belts/buckles/jackets/pantlegs. Hope you don't end up regretting it a year down the road cuz it looks so good.

It's not nearly as rough as it looks. Also the guys applied a sealer over the base coat. It's actually slippery. I don't think clothing wear will be a problem at all.

I think of the Line-X as a coarse rubber, and that makes me curious how do they keep the material out of the bolt holes? The reason I ask was that I would be concerned about the material pulling away from the air box cover around the bolt holes if it was removed from the holes. Also can you get some close ups of the air box/flyscreen around the edges?

The cool thing about the Line-X on the City-X is that the City-X has kind of a rugged look with the hand guards and the headlight grille so it matches well.

BTW it looks great,
Bart

For the bolt holes, they put plugs into them when they spray it and they also did a light coat around the edges to keep it from peeling, but not so thick it fits improperly.
It does feel like smooth rubber, even though it's textured, it is not a rough feeling at all.. it's not a chunky substance...you can get a sample from the local dealer...and since most bikes don't sit out in the sun, day after day, I think with the coat and the spray on cleaner it'll hold up a LONG time...

I had to run a drill bit through some of the holes to clear a small amount of extra material but I can tell you this, Line-X is very tough stuff. You need a drill, dermel or grinder to work with the stuff. I used a pretty aggressive file and it took me a long time to work the it the way I wanted. You can always have it touched up anyway. It dries in 5 seconds so they could spray it and you and instantly install the parts and be on your way. All the edges look good. No goobers or sags or anything, nice and clean. The guys I took it to showed me a huge photo book of some of the projects they have worked on. Tons of bikes, trucks, hot rods, foundation sealings on buildings etc. They have coated just about everything. I'm pretty sure the Line-X will out last the rest of the bike.

i just got mine back today....this is unbelievable, but north canton, ohio line -x charged me 25 bucks for the airbox, flyscreen and front fender. and 25 bucks for the chin and a seat cowl.......50 for all.......i was really surprised.....anybody in canton area looking to go dark....go there....they had a good idea to leave the logos on the tank, and line x over it...it would stay raised....i didnt do it, but its a cool idea though....will post some pics soon...it looks sick with the wrapped header and crossroads bars........i think i am going to paint the triple clamp part of the crossroads......thanks whoever mentioned linex...it has made my xb the bike i wanted.....now i need that premapped ecm......daves - al?

There are at least five bikes here in my town (Fayetteville, NC) that are Rhino Lined. It (and Line-X) are amazingly tough coatings. One of my buddies has had his Harley dresser done in it for four years now and it shows no sign of deterioration at all. Another buddy dropped his Rhino-lined dresser in a wreck and it did zero body damage; just scuffed up the coating! I was amazed it didn't destroy the fairing.

Anyway, it's cool to see an XB done up like that.
