Hey XBers,
After much thought, I put a deposit on a XB12X. Build date is 1 Sept, so I'm hoping it's in before mid-sept. I figure a low seat and the hard bags will be added when it comes in. I just gotta sell the Night Train before it arrives.

Cheers

Buell12hundo,
Thanks.
It was tough as the Night Train is paid for and I'll probably use the money from the sale to pay off another loan. Course, considering I've had it 9 months and it only has 2450 miles on it -- not so hard. I find myself taking the Road Glide as it's just easier to throw stuff in the hard cases and go.

2Hogs ....Ohhh Excuse me... 1HognaBuell, (or should that be 1BuellnaHog) -

Way to go...I am really jealous.

Keep in touch and let us know where and how the XB12X takes you.

My guess is that the mileage will start ticking on the Buell and the Road Glide will feel neglected...probably left to two up duty only

All,
Thanks.
I'm sure I'll stop in here from time to time with news. Hey wait, I have a bunch of vacation saved.
Humm, I think a week or two vacation is in order after the Uly gets it's first service.

I got both my bikes less than 9 days after the build date. May vary depending on distance from the factory.

two_buells, I put a deposit down, but didn't get a solid date on delivery, or build date, is that information the dealer should be able to give me if I ask?

Branebanger,
It may vary from dealer to dealer. I called one dealer and they just knew the '06s would start showing up around the end of this month. Then I called another dealer and he had a computer printout of what was coming in, even color! I wandered in and laid down my deposit (XB12X in Black)!

Cheers

I'm curious as to the size of the deposit ya'll are putting down. I haven't owned a Buell (yet!), but I think I've just got to have the Ulysses! Almost bought an S3T 10 years ago, but didn't for some reason.

Does the deposit guarantee you'll get your bike? Just curious.

There are two ways this can work and HOW it works is a matter of contract, either verbal, expressed or implied.

You put down a DEPOSIT for an option. In this case *IF* the dealer gets the bike, you have the right, at that time to take or not take the bike. This option could provide for forfeiture of deposit if you choose not to. Essentially, you've "gambled" the amount of the deposit, that you'll want it when it arrives. The dealer, as "consideration" has aborted further advertising costs since he always has the bike "sold".

In the case of bikes, like the Ulysses, where demand far outruns supply, you can put down a deposit to secure a place on a list. The bike comes, you get called first. As a matter of reality, in this scenario with another buyer in the wings, I've always had the dealer return the deposit w/o qualm.

In fact, most dealers will take your "word" as deposit if you've done business with them. If you don't know the details of a "deposit"...do NOT ask or trust anything on an internet bulletin board. Go to the counterparty, the dealer, and ASK. You have a duty and a right to know.

Thanks Court, I was interested in what the folks that had put down were getting for it. I assume it got you something, just wasn't sure what it was. I've read several posts that say something like, "I put down my deposit, bike will be delivered in early September". Just wondering if those folks were guaranteed early September delivery, or guaranteed a bike, when their turn came up, which could turn into Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan, etc. Particulary with the high demand this one looks to have.

You should have no problem. The ship dates are being kept and there are no "issues" that appear to be developing.

You'll be in good shape.

In the meantime, use your time wisely to learn all you can. Have your dealer order the parts and service manuals for you. Spend time reading them and get to "know" your bike before it arrives.

Any questions, feel free to ask.

I'd like to know if a Drummer will fit the XB12X, but I think I'm going to have to wait for an answer. I have patience...

If I am not mistaken, the new XB12X has a re-inforced muffler to with stand potential damage from off road use.

So in my mind, it is about more than just the Drummer fitting, but will the Drummer, (or any other after market product) be designed to consider the potential damage it might receive if in fact you intend to go off road.

If you guys are going to go with the bag option, be sure your delivering dealer orders the bags at the time you put down your deposit. Lead time from the manufacturer is up to 30 days, and you definitely want to have them installed before delivery to take advantage of the 2 year parts & accessory (PNA to those in the biz) warranty.

Just a heads up.

Truk,
I already know how much abuse the Drummer will take, which is a hell of a lot, I was hoping if I could fit it to an XBX with 2" more ground clearance it will proly last a lot longer : )

Blake,
Thanks. It can't get here soon enough for me. Pics will follow it's arrival.

Odinbueller,
Good info, I'm kicking around the idea to make my own mounts for Happy-trail bags. I'd like to have a set of large capacity side cases in a slimmer profile. I have a T-bag that should slide over the triple tail until the hard cases arrive.

Cheers
