Well I'll admit,

about three months ago, some friends and I were riding, and some idiot had gotten a dumptruck/trailer load of playground sand delivered... and it was all over the road. Three of us went down, and me being 2nd in line, there was no avoiding the rear tire drift. In an attempt to powerslide/low side it, I just happened to run off the patch and the rear tire caught traction sending me in to a hellatious high side. The bike came down on the left side of the tail on the very tip.. it bent my subframe (where the rear pillion latch is). I tore the bike down to the frame and inspected it for cracks/broken bolts etc... and it seems that everythings in good order, except now the center of the tail is kicked to the right about an inch. Anyone know how much Dave can get a subframe for an `05 12r ? Or anyone have a spare that they've ditched for a racing subframe? Thats still true and in decent condition? (I'll be stripping the paint and getting it powdercoated prior to installation. Thanks! and yeah I'm ok.. just got a bit bruised up, and had to replace about 350$ worth of cosmetic parts along with footpegs, right side controls and what not. Thank god for leathers!

That sucks. I just saw one on E-bay a few days ago, just checked and could not find it, sorry. Good luck.

I have the same type of problem from a previous accident. I have been thinking about taking it to a body shop and see if they can't heat it up and bend it back to normal. Is this possible or do I need to buck up and buy one?

moboy.. please don't have someone heat it up and try and fix it unless they REALLY know what they are doing

AL does funny stuff when you heat it up.. could make it really hard or really soft

Yeah, the only way to correctly fix aluminum, is to slow bend it back into shape using a rack. Unfortunately I don't know anyone who works at a body shop, or has access to a body alignment table/rack.

Most likely, I'll buy a new one, and keep this one as track parts like the busted fairing support (which I Jb welded back together JUST for the track *grin) and the busted/scratched plastics...

Thanks for the warning. I'll probably just buy one then.

I'm sure these two will go like hotcakes, but if they do, they do, kinda hung up for cash right now, but hopefully in a month I'll have enough to buy one, if not, two months I'll have enough to buy a new one. Thanks Jan, and once I get the money I'll hit you up on the pm. Ugh... why'd I even ask *grin*
