Just for confirmations our bikes (XB9R) hold 2.5 quarts of oil and 1 quart of trans fluid correct? I bought mobil 1 75w90 gear lube for the trans but can't seem to find the mobil v-twin oil. My local wal-mart doesn't even carry it. Any ideas where I can get this oil at?

Thanks

Approximately correct, but see other posts about being careful not to overfill either.

The Mobil V-twin 20W-50 can be hard to find. Locally (SC) some Autozone stores carry it. There is a "find Mobil-1 products" feature at Mobil1.com, but it always shows Walmarts as carrying it so it isn't very useful. Hopefully someone that lives closer to you knows a local source.

I pick it up at Autozone... $8 something a quart...

You are correct with the amount of fluid. Be sure to pour about 4oz into the filter and wipe a little around the filter seal before you screw that on.

Also, if you use a 2x4 or two under the kick stand (BE CAREFUL DOING THIS ON A WINDY DAY!) or at least hold the bike level for a little while. You will get one full quart out of the primary. This will allow you to put one full quart back in and you'll be right on the money. The trans is pretty sensitive to the amount of fluid. Too little and it's hard to get into neutral. Too much and it's hard to quickly shift into second.

Cmm213- they have NOT discontinued Mobil 1 20W-50 V-twin:

It's just hard to find. Amsoil and Redline are also great oils by all indications.

I still can get Mobile One Vtwin 20w-50 at Autozone. Plus the local Triumph dealer said he could order it for me if needed. It is still available....

I just bought a bunch of VTwin 20w50 at CAP in Mass. I was very surprised to see it on the shelf, no one seems to carry it around here.
