Hi guys. This is a first post for me...it may be a dumb one. I've been doing my own servicing on my 12R(just did the 5000mile/8000km). Obviously I haven't been able to reset the TPS myself and the equipment needed seems sketchy at best based on other posts. My bike still runs great. Does this TPS reset matter or should I just keep riding?

A reset only establishes a baseline for the ECM (closed throttle). If the bike is running fine, there's no reason to tamper with it.
It's too bad the previous posts have left the impression that the TechnoResearch software isn't up to snuff. Nothing could be further from the truth. I too had some communication problems initially but TechnoResearch stepped up to the plate and resolved them within a few days. I've since used mine to reset the TPS on two other XB's and resolved an ETS problem. For $250, it's reassuring knowing that I'm completely independent from any dealer.

I've used my Technoresearch VDSTS with success as well.

dave is a sponsor, and he can hook u up with a scan tool like skully suggests for around 250.
I used it and glad to be freed from the dealer

Thanks guys. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out on anything critical. Cheers!

I agree that the other posts make it seem like it can be difficult, but once I got it figured out, worked like a charm. I'd rather spend a hour messing with it and do it myself than let someone else touch my baby anyway.
