i only safetied the top 2 rear header nuts. i took one of the front header nuts to the hardware store and matched up some normal style. drilled them and then installed and safetied. rear was a pain. i wrapped each oil line fitting twice with wire and then safetied to each other. i siliconed the spring rings that keeps the line in the fittings.

Tricks of the trade:

http://www.mcmaster.com/#wire-locking-retainers/=m g295i

These are inch sizes only, but will typically work well with metric nuts -- just measure and order the ones you need.

The other thing that works really well for this: Go to the hardware store with your nuts in hand (always wanted to say that) and look at 1/16" Aluminum C-channel. You should find it in a number of sizes -- just pick the one the nut fits into snugly. I'm usually able to find a perfect fit.

The C-channel cuts easily with a simple hacksaw, and then you drill a hole in the center of the backplate on it. Now you have just fabricated what you need to lock wire the nut.

For the oil cooler bolts, measure the diameter of the rigid portion of the oil cooler line and drill that size hole in the back of the C-channel. If you then hacksaw through the hole and c-channel just a "CH" off the center of that drill hole, you will create a "snap on" nut lock. Then, snap it into place around your oil cooler bolt and wire.

I've done this on a couple of Ducati bikes with oil cooler set-ups like ours and had good results.

The 1125r oil cooler fittings are already safety-wired, IMHO. They will not come loose without pulling those steel clips.

Thanks for all of the input. It will be a busy couple of weeks leading up to the race.

Kurvy Girl has pre-drilled banjo bolts in both sizes. While not cheap($13.00 each) they are titanium and should last. That also includes the crush washers needed.

I'm tired of breaking bits, and only getting a bolt or 2 out of a bit before its to dull.

General, What class/es are you racing?

Kruizen, I'm going to enter

Heavyweight Twins SB
Heavyweight Senior SB
A SB (will be interesting to see how many times the fast guys on the big bikes lap me)
Formula 1 (Same concern as A Superbike)

I'd like to race B SB but I changed my Master Cylinder...

Smoke... I was concerned A SB would not be a good fit for the 1125R. Do you run A SB or are the other bikes just too fast for the 1125R to be competitive?

I may run BSB in the future but don't want to introduce myself to the WERA community by running in a class the bike is technically not legal for.

If you blow away the competition, they will have reason to bitch, if not, I highly doubt anyone will care.
Heck, blow them away, still probably won't care.
A person's master cylinder isn't what beat me.

99+1:
Most club organizations allow some leeway in strict interpretation of the rules, unless you podium, then be ready for some protests. I've never been called on MC's, but then again, I'm not winning races. If I can finish upright, it's a win for me - and without being lapped, is bonus points.

Thanks guys.

I will keep running the Buell but if someone has the cash I will likely let it go if a good 675 is available. The Buell is a ton of fun.

For WERA do we need an extra catch bottle, for gas overflow &/or coolant overflow to route into?

Completed my first race weekend at Barber with WERA and I now understand what racers meant when they told me TrackDays and Racing are two different worlds. I found racing much more fulfilling.

Entered 5 races taking a 2nd in HWT Twins SB Novice, a 3rd in F1 Novice and a 3rd in Sr SB HWT Novice.

I put down my best lap in the F1 race and was able to consistently run about .6 secs above which was 2.5 sec/lap off the winning pace for Novice in most of the events I ran. I know where I can pick that up without too much trouble once I put a little more trust in the tires so now I find myself looking ahead to the WERA GNF at Barber to see if I can grab a win or two.

In the meantime I'll participate in several more race weekends to develop some racecraft and improve my riding.

I AM HOOKED!

Can someone post a picture of how you safety wired your front axle. I don't have enough of a lip to do a hole.

I only did the pinch bolts. Since the axle will tighten itself as long as the bike is rolling forward, tech considered this sufficient. The SV650 is the same way.

If Tech gives you a lot of grief, use and axle slider and wire both sides of that instead.

You can see how I wired mine in person at VIR on 06/01. It's not terribly difficult but requires a steady hand to drill a diagonal hole through the lip of the axle.

I only do pinch bolts as well. Never had a problem since the rules say axle nut, and there is none.
BTW, I made Roadracing World

That's awesome, great job.

I like your logic about there not being an axle nut. WERA rule book says "Axles or Axle nuts" so General I can't wait to see yours.
