well lets face it, she's at deaths door, im trying to start a horible thread here, but what shall i do with my inheratence, i want all your responces except get spelling lessons.
ive already rulued out dropping it on the roulette table and saying black or red for a double or nothing.
but there will be enough to pay off my bike
and get exhaust and ecm.
bottom line im tired of quiet and want loud, but for the price i might as well get hp also.
im fat and not likely to lose weight , but a 20 lbp loss and hp gain makes sense, so.
which ehxaust combo is your favorite, keep in mind i want loud , but hp is a must also?
al responds will be read including ethical ones, thanx

If I understand your post right, you are coming into some money and are looking to purchase an exhaust system and matching ECM.

If you want the best of the best, money is no object, the EBR Race full exhaust system and matching ECM can't be beat.

If you are sane, check out the American Sport Bike exhaust shootout on their webpage, it has most of the common exhausts and dyno comparisons.

That said, I personally recommend sticking with the stock exhaust, or possibly a reworked stock like the KEDA MT-1, with a matching ECM.

+1 on the stock with mods. If you have minimal fab skills, welder, cut of wheel and a sawzall you can have a very efficient exhaust whith a great tone. Toss in a used HMF race ecm and a K&N and the "seat of the pants" dyno will prove it. I can't wait to get my bike on a dyno to see what the improvements are.

Stephen - sorry to hear about your grandma.

Loud is subjective. D&D loud vs Dean's MT1 "loud"...

slip-on or full system preference?

Definitely check out Al's exhaust shootout Froggy mentioned. Tons of info and even sound clips to hear the exhausts to see if any speak to you.

I went with the FMF Full Ti Race system. It's loud. it's also light. Mine after ceramic coating the headers was 9.36lbs total (including the bag of springs and bolts). Vs 20.4 for just the muffler(non CA). All said i think i cut 16lbs stock to the Ti FMF.

Race ECM of course is a must.

Personally the thing i like the most so far is the Torque! HP is great, but i use the torque a lot more than the top end HP.

I can't say how the FMF stacks up against the EBR Race (which is supposed to be awesome). I have a baseline dyno and haven't gone in to do my after exhaust dyno to compare (raining and busy). Seat of the pants i feel a lot more of the torque than any major HP gain.

GL!

hammer - everyone is different on how they deal with these things.

I can understand trying to find a silver lining during a time of stress and grief. Something to look forward to may be the only positive in a situation like that.

but hey i'm not him and i wouldn't presume...

Agree with Hammer. Spend the money when it's in your hands not while it's in its death bed. Pay respects as well. Karma goes a long way.

+1.

Since you're spending her money anyway, might as well spend some to go see her, give her some comfort while you still can, and say goodbye and thank you.

Maybe even "I love you, grandma".

In the grand scheme of things, bikes, cars, planes etc, etc are just things - unimportant stuff. Family is everything, go and see her, you'll have a lifetime to regret it if you don't.

A similar thing happened to me over 12 months ago; a loved Aunt passed away and unbeknown to me, she left me her life savings and house. I wish I had the opportunity to say thanks for this, and I'm so glad that I was at her beside as she slipped away - I would gladly give it all away for for a few more moments with her.

On a more pragmatic note, there will be many people after her Estate, Tax Man etc, and it takes many many months for Probate to be sorted - don't count your chickens just yet.

This is a bizarre thread... I really want to comment but am conflicted on what to say.

20 plus years ago, my first wife committed suicide and I was beneficiary on a life insurance policy.
The day the first check showed up, I bought a new Softail and an old Split-Window Corvette. A few "friends" gave me shit, not the real ones.
I did manage to pay for 3 years of college, but the money ran out before the diploma showed up. oh well I learned some really cool stuff....

Bottom line is, take care of family while you can.

My sorrow for your loss, YOU decide how to deal with it.

Zack

Total Control lessons or if your skills are beyond that already more advanced track lessons from pros. Maybe something focusing on cornering.

I really like my baker set up on my CR. Although my wife does not. I may be willing to sell the exhaust and ecm. You'll have to live with a speedo inaccuracy or send it to ebr to have it re done.

i assume the price would be good,
but
barker did not make my top 3 choices from the shootout report, and speedo would be an issue i would have to get fixed
