Milt. Thank you for saying that. I thought I was seeing things. Or wasn't seeing things or whatever!

Guambra. How long? And how many bikes did he go through learning

Doublea. He is riding a 600

Sprintest. I'm beyond impressed. I'm in shock. But inspired to make every turn a testament to turning.

Dannybuell. Exactly!!!!!!!!

That bike has very tall bars, no way you are doing that with clip ons. It's still impressive. There is no need to lean off the seat, especially at that speed and with a very light weight rider.

Pretty good... He probably practiced that same little track setup until he got that good. I could on my Cr after an hour or less of practicing. Gotta trust your bike, tires and not hold back... Wheelies on the other hand, Im not so good at...

In slow speed stuff, there's little advantage to hanging off. The point of hanging off is to change the center of gravity. At 10mpg, it's not important.

A lot of the skill for this slow speed stuff is found pushing the bike under you and being comfortable at full lock. Sportbikes are actually a bit of a bad choice for this kind of riding since they tend to be geared tall and have poor lock-to-lock steering range.

I've seen guys on ST1300s stuff themselves through cone courses at amazing rates. They hold the throttle steady and use the back brake to modulate speed.

It's a very different kind of riding.

I noticed a few things on the video. His rear sprocket is much larger, hence he can keep the revs up on his CBR600. His bike rarely dives or squats, which tells me his damping must be way, way up to avoid those weight shifts under heavy braking and WOT starts. He's almost pivoting on his footpegs! Notice the pavement is very smooth and probably sticky as hell with no crap on it. To do that you really need to completely shut off any fear factor on going down AND have the stickiest tires available. Awesome. The Japanese have this competition down pat! I've seen them do it on Police VFR800's!

The bike in the first video is a cbr600. I bet he's modified the steering stops. With bars like that you could just sand them off the forks and get more turning radius.

This kind of riding reminds me of autocross, which I love to do in my car. This is the kind of skill that's really useful in the real world, the kind that can save your butt.

Hanging off can be beneficial anytime you want to conserve lean angle, and it works better than counter-weighting anytime the centrifugal force alone is sufficient to counter gravity... the centrifugal force not only depends on speed but also on the radius of the turn.

I think he doesn't hang off because it would be too unsettling to the bike with the rapid transitions he is making. Not that he couldn't hang off.

Notice his chassis guards? If anybody knows of anything like that for the 1125R, I would love to hear about it.

Out here (SF Bay Area) the Sheriff's department does a civilian course that teaches a lot of stuff that they teach moto LEOs. If you can find something similar in your area, I'd strongly recommend signing up. It is cheap and the skills are not only fun but also useful.

Maybe someday Battletrax will return.
