Some quick math - light comes on at about 4.6 gallons used, so you got about 3/4 of a gallon remaining rounded down. 50mpg times .75 = 37.5 miles. 40mpg would be 30 miles range.

Who gets 50 mpg?? I am happy to see 32. I would say 25 miles is safe. You really don't want to run the tank empty. The fuel pump could be damaged...

Daniii meet Froggy. If you want to learn how to stretch your MPG just pay attention to what he posts.

I am still practicing some of Froggy's techniques but when I am done at work here in California at the end of the day with all the traffic I just want to get home.

I don't know what would make you want to hypermile on an 1125. It's kinda like trying to hypermile a big block muscle car. These bikes were meant to be DRIVEN!
The blast...OK, hypermile away...but 1125...really? WHY?!?

Its fun, and more challenging : )

I plan on entering my CR into the next hypermiling contest near me, I know I can beat that damn diesel VW.

To each their own, but I can't think of anything more fun, challenging or appropriate for the R or CR than pushing your limits thru a favorite set of twisties or on the track.

See....Froggy always forgets to mention during these MPG threads that he's about the size and weight of a clutch lever.

But the guy can get some serious distance out of a gallon of dead dinosaurs.

I'm seeing 160-170 on my commute. I don't push my reserve over 25 miles since my ride would leave me pushing.

One mile less than when the fuel runs out - seriously I always refill the tank after no longer than 15 imperial miles just in case.

I once stretched the low fuel range on my XB12R to 15 miles and nearly ended up pushing it home.

I figure I need to get gas ASAP when the light comes on, at least within 20 miles. Where I live it's easy to be 20 miles from a station when you are out and playing, so I've learned the hard way to fill up when you can. I do wish there was more range to a tank, and much more range once the low-fuel light is lit.

I've run out once. Don't remember the exact miles but I was thinking I had 30+ miles to dry. Ran out at a little over 20 miles. Now I treat the light as a "get gas NOW" light.

The light means "get gas now." If you REALLY want to know know who far you can go with your light on strap a 1 gallon jerry-can to you passenger seat and run your bike dry. Then do it two more times and let us know what you get when figure out the average (average=(a+b+c)/3).

+1 on that for sure. I have not ran out but I think I pushed it to 20 miles on reserve. I am not going any further.

Remember that running the fuel pump dry might do it any good in the long term
