Alright, I have read bits and pieces (pro and con) about keeping the O2 correction loop or removing the sensors. If Twin Motorcycles redoes your whole map (including partial throttle), Dris claims (and I tend to agree with him) that no O2 "learning circuit" is needed (and may in fact be counterproductive).

Dris told me "every single cell runs 13.6 AF and at wot between 13.5-12.5 AF depending on the RPM range". So the only thing the O2 circuit could do would be to mess up all the dyno work Dris has done!!

I do have an Innovate Motorsports LC-1/XD-16 (wide band sensor/gauge/data logger). So i could just monitor the AFR/Lambda.

Anyway, is there a consensus about whether to remove the narrow band O2 tuning circuit with Dris's dyno map?????? Oh, and if I do remove the O2 circuit, does anyone know how to defeat the error light??????

I run dris's map with no lambs have had no error lights come up

I think ecmspy has an option to disable O2 sensor reporting for the ecm.

you can do it but its not good IMO.

because the o2 data is only a tool to let the ecm know what the afr is for adjustment.

Unlike a carb which has a float bowl vented to the outside and other vents as air pressure changes the ventury self adjust. keeping everything equal on both sides. a 1;1

Now in a EfI its all solid state, so as things change, temp pressure and ect the system is pre programmed to adjust to its enviroment. you can reprogram it to work in the target (afr) zone and work wonders. at sea level and 10000 ft. take it out or turn it off well its good at one but will suck at the other.
The fixed data has no adjustments for the elements. EFI need the feed back to work correct.

what should be done is rename the values to the 13.2 (your choice) in the ecm and allow the O2 to adjust to that. Not disable it locking you map to a rigid value working great in that exact climate and altitude only.

altitude, fuel, temp, fuel temp, water molecules in the air. it all adds up. dont cut a sensor out. Please read into sensors, then EFI and you will see why they are needed. disabling is a bandage that will hurt more than it helps. why does drag race ,bracket racing ,indy car, nastycar all set the fuel to the weather and altitude to a track and conditions? As posted else where in the EFi forums the sensors are your best friends. set it correctly and you will be smooth fast and awesome.

Use the ecm with them on . find a tuner who can revalue the fuel points so the ecm takes the data from the sensor and adjust to that afr. not the pre programmed 14.7... Do it correctly for street use. even for racing the best maps are set per event. I know someone who does this and they won 2 championships on a stock engine xb12 last season. only thing done was springs and remapping each event with a buell race exhaust. each event the fuel changed. it even changed from saturday to sunday. morning to hot afternoon. I use different maps depending on many factors with out O2 correction and temp correction. Its a must os risk blowing things up and running weak.


If you can find a tuner to revalue the set points. use a cheater Lamda.
one like LC1 has and use the offset portion to send a skewed data to the ecm forcing the afr to a lower value but evenly done while the ecm keeps its correction.

these on the new ecms with daul o2s are the best home tool upgrade. set the target afr as you like and call it done. the ecm know adjust itself always. no over shooting or locking out correction.

remember to save the stock data. for reflashing is you mess things up.

A couple things to add here. Everything is built with tolerances, including injectors. Also, injectors can clog over time.

so would a pair of LC1 with offset analog output to the stock ECM be sufficient or would it be best to use a pair of LC1 and alter the target AFR of the stock ECM with tunerpro?
