which xdf file do i use? i have an 08R see the cautions to use the right one but i am not seeing how to figure out which one the right one is....may just be me being blind if so forgive me and point me in the rgiht direction please

You need to use ecmread first, read the eeprom on your bike. It will have a date in the file name. Yours should have 9-30-09 which is the latest factory flash. Once you know which flash you have, then you can determine which file you need, or you may want to have it flashed first by a dealer to get it updated.

If you have the latest flash, you would need the BUE2D xdf file.

okay bike has latest flash but the data i have is from an older flash jan 09 time range. im in thailand right now and want to play around a bit any idea which edf i'd use for the flash from then?
