Anyone figure out what the Status number is for yet? I guess I'm in good company. Both Vik and I are 2s.

Help,
Rear wheel, swingarm, and belt all coated with what seems like a real lightweight oil. The oil level in the bike hasn't dropped much at all.

I thought the shock was leaking at first, but now I'm not so sure. Its on the right side and my guess would be somewhere near the front pulley.

Any guess?

I'll move to KV once I know where to go.

X1 right side leak

Thanks
Matt

That's weird, Matt. I've never seen anything like that before. My first guess would be transmission fluid?

I just had a weird leak too. The back of the carb was oily and oil was along the fins of the rear head. Turned out it's my breather bolt on the rear cylinder. It was really loose and when I took the hose off to tighten the bolt, the hose was cracked. I'm not sure if it was cracked before or if I cracked it wiggling it off the bolt. Anyway, I'm going to get some Hylomar and breather hose and route the breathers out of the intake. But I don't know how you got oil way back there on the rear fender/swingarm!?!

Did the rear brake reservoir spring a leak??

M2Me,
I think the belt is throwing it, it seems well oiled. Looks new now! These leaking "up" things always mess me up.

I've routed the breathers to a catch can, seems to fill up once a week when its cold (30 -50 degrees F), but only once a month when it warms up. We could use some global warming up here in rochester this year.

I just looked some more, the oil pump looks dry, so I'm guessing the seal behind the pulley? Parts coming off now

There's a kinda special story behind my ring. See, we decided to go shoppin' for it last minute. Nobody had anything over size 10 or 11...anything bigger had to be ordered...two or three weeks. Only one jewelery store in this area had exactly what I needed...a size 11.75 titanium/gold ring...and coincidentally the sales woman had the same birthday as me. I was meant to have this ring

Mbsween,
The vertical orientation of the oil stains is kind of weird. It looks like the oil was dripping from somewhere above the belt guard. It also appears that what ever occurred was a low speed. Otherwise the stains should have run toward the rear of the bike due to air movement. Is there oil on inside surfaces of the aluminum tail section? Did you check to make sure the oil fill cap is tight?
If it is brake fluid you should be able to tell by the smell. Some folks have even been known to touch a finger to the fluid and touch it to the end of their tongue. Brake fluid has a bitter taste to it. Now how would I know that???

Greg

I think the number under your name is the rank that Blake assigns you according to your relative value to the BadWeB BBS. One being the highest, five being the lowest.

I haven't even looked at my number.

Oh my, what a surprise! Imagine that!

Well, thank you, thank you very much.

I am truly humbled. Even though I really believe I truly deserve this honor, I am exceedingly pleased that I would be recognized this way. My sincere thanks to all of the “little people” that made this great honor possible, my mom, my dad, Aaron, Courtney, Blake, ……….

Ray,

The number under your name seems to go up as you post until it equals the "status" number in your profile.

Here's my take on the status number:

1 - OK
2 - So, so
3 - Acceptable
4 - Not bad
5 - The best status number ever!!
6 - Better than 4 but not as good as 5

I also agree with S320002 regarding Matt's leaking problem. It's weird that the streaks are so vertical.

What? How did Blake get to be a 7? I have to add 7 to my status rankings:

7 - Pretty much the same as 4

Motorcycle Air Bag Crash Test:

http://www.alpinestars.com/v2/news/crashtest720.html

Ya'll might find this interesting. Funny how the air bag inflates after the dummy's chest has hit the gas tank. Doesn't look like the dummy faired too well. Keep workin' on it guys.

the literature for the air bag jacket:

Crash test inflatable airbag
Alpinestars Airbag Jacket Specification

The motorcycle mounted control unit incorporates:
· Accelerometers (longitudinal & lateral).
· Proximity sensors and wheel speed monitoring sensors.
· Radio receiver incorporated on the jacket.

The augmented compressed gas inflators use car airbag technology which, in the event of a collision, give an inflation time of 0.01 seconds for the majority of the volume and under 0.02 sec. for the entire volume of 120 liters. The airbags also incorporate a pressure release mechanism to absorb the force of an impact between rider and obstacle and preventing rebound.

The system utilises completely wireless technology between bike and rider, operating on intelligent logic algorithms to detect an accident situation based upon pre-determined parameters.

My M2's in for it's 556 mile checkup. (I just kept riding) I am guessing the 3500rpm "softness" I'm feeling is reversion, and will be cured by the new muffler I haven't installed yet. Odd feeling, like the bikes not happy between 3000-3800 rpm or so. Or will shimming the needle be the cure? So far I'm stone stock.

That mystery oil leak reminds me that my buddy's S1 had almost had the belt wear through the rear brake reservoir. I think, however, that the mounting may have been modified.
