Anybody know if any of the switchgear has to have holes drilled into the new bar?

Yes the switches need holes drilled in the handlebars BUT, you may find that the small locator tabs have sheered off already. Some cut the tabs off and dont drill the bars, instead using duct tape around the bars for the switch housing to grab on to. Whether you drill the hole or not will be up to you wont make much of a difference and the locator tabs will sheer off eventually!

I changed the handlebar but didn't do any drilling. The switchgear seems pretty secure and tight though.

I'm guessing then your locater pins have already sheared off!

It doesn't take them long, mine were pretty much gone when I changed the bars out. I had 700 miles on the bike then, and they were already almost nonexistent. They're not necessary anyway, though, since I've got about 10,000 more miles on since then, and haven't had the controls try and relocate or anything...

Cool. I put a motocross bar w/ the cross bar. It looks pretty good and feels awesome. LOTSA leverage...

Mounted F15 flyscreen, Oneil steel bars, GSXR1300 steering damper. Damper makes bike ride like 'big' bike, no head shake at speed, no twitchyness, railroad tracks feel like they are painted on the road.
