Hey guys. I rode a little bit today and when I came back I was playing with the suspension settings. Then I noticed that the front left corner of my Cherry Bomb Red translucent airbox cover is cracked around the bolt! I think it's cracked from the bolt hole right to the edge of the airbox cover. Now I did not have the cover off. The last time it was touched was at the 1,000 mile service (about 1,100 miles and I now have about 4,500 on it).

So my question is, will this be replaced under warranty?

It should be replaced because it is not a maintenance item and it wasn't my doing. I'm guessing the vibration played a big part in the crack. My bike is garage kept and the only time it really sits out in the sun is when I ride it to work so the heat shouldn't have been the sole cause.

Overtightened bolt.
F'n Buells are so unreliable.
Do a search on SkyFrog or Skyguys posts.

Doom is coming!

If the dealer overtightened it it took 3,000 miles for it to effect the plastic.

The rest of that stuff you typed...I'm lost.

The plastic is covered under warranty. I have been through 4, yes...4, air box covers. . On this last one I changed over to a solid black cover and wind screen.

Yes, the replacements are covered under warranty and YES that ARE FAMILIAR with the problem. When I spoke to Buell Tech they asked me a couple of questions about my fueling habits and whether or not I attached a tank bag.

They also did indicate to me that the chemical makeup had been changed in the translucent airbox covers between '07 and '08.

I opted away from the translucent to a solid color. When you tap the plastic you can hear the difference.

The short answer is that its covered by warranty!
