Stoner just got it done, even Dovi is doing better then Rossi on th Ducati

Stoner got it done on a different bike and tires. Stoner never did well on it afterwards. As far as Dovi?? I feel terrible for him. Don't compare him to Rossi. He has had two 7th places. Pretty much all anyone can do on it. You really need to sit back and analyze the racing a bit before you speak. To really sound foolish and your ignorance really shows.

Funny... I seem to remember only ONE person in front of Rossi in Qatar, and his name was "Lorenzo," not "Dovisioso." Trojan is right... you really DON'T watch the same races the rest of us do.

With all focus on Marquez and Rossi, the disastrous fall from grace by Ben Spies seems to be overlooked. From 3 time AMA Superbike Champion against the series greatest champ, to winning the World Superbike Championship in his first try, to MotoGP Rookie of the year and being the first winner of a MotoGP race NOT named Rossi/Lorenzo/Pedrosa/Stoner in years...

It was just announced he will be missing the Jerez round to allow his body to heal up more before LeMans. Is his career over?

Could be he wouldn'be the first athlete to have a shoulder injury end a career. This may be why he went to Ducati instead of world superbike. If this year is a total write off he could probably still get a good ride in WSB next year. If he went to WSB this year and was a failure he would be done cause no one gets back to motogp.

Damned shame. When he first joined the series, I think just about EVERYONE tipped him as America's best chance for a MotoGP champ since Nicky Hayden. Funny how things work out sometimes. : (

Neil Hodgson and Carl Fogarty suffered from similar shoulder injuries that proved career ending.
I can't see him coming back to the top of either GP or WSB (it is just aas hard physically to ride a superbike after all).

I hope Ducati get a replacement rider for Jerez. There are few enough decent rides for young riders as it is, so letting one go begging would be a crime.

Actually, I tend to think WSBK is physically harder. They race TWICE in the same day, after all.

I thought they said that Pirro was going to be on his bike instead of the wildcard bike he was going to be on. Maybe not. Spies will not be in GP next year and WSBK will probably be a long shot as well. Amazing how far short he fell of expectations.

Hey, the season just started and she's on a brand new bike this year. She is still the ONLY woman to win an AMAPro Roadrace, and she's done it twice so far.

In other words, she's been more successful on the track than Danica Patrick (who only won ONE Indy race, and so far hasn't done much in NASCAR).

Spies has had one really bad year with a significant injury thrown in. Michael Doohan after a glorious start to the 92 season had two bad years to recover from what could have been a career ending injury.
A lot of Spies problems last year were machine failures. He is still young I wouldn't write him off just yet.

Doohan had leg injuries which, although very serious, were eventually not career ending (he had to have a thumb brake and other mods but could still ride). Shoulder injuries are a different matter and mean that you just can't control the bike without the strength in your shoulders.

Hodgson and Fogerty both tried to continue but couldn't, and both had to retire. Melandri is also suffering from a similar injury but not quite so serious. Spies needs rest and should sit out more than one race. Whether the team will be willing to wait for him is another matter, and may lok for another (less expensive) rider as a full time replacement.

Ducati should give Eslick that ride. Danny is a Happy guy like Marquez.

On what basis? Being happy isn't a good reason (I'm quite happy too but won't expect a call from Ducati). The ride should go to someone who is performing well in either Moto2 or CRT and has knowledge of the ciruit at least, not to a rider in a domestic championship who has never ridden a GP bike before and never raced at Jerez.

Matt I only partly agree with you on who should get Spies Ducati seat. I agree that someone else should get the seat and not let it set idle. Spies may have to set out several races if not a whole season, that is the way it is with shoulder injuries. I do not think putting another moto2, 250gp rider on a Ducati as it is presently configured will accomplish anything. Eslick got mentioned just because of the way he rides and how he rides. To find the next great Ducati motogp champion they need to expand their horizons, some Spanish series is too narrow of a gene pool.

But expecting someone who has never raced in Spain, never raced on Bridgestone tyres, never used carbon brakes and never ridden a GP bike to even put in an average performance (in the dry) is a bit too much to ask of anyone. I wouldn't expect anyone who has no experience in any of the baove to be offered the ride, especially as Ducati already have a list of 'favoured' riders that they would probably go to in the event of Spies not coming back. Maybe Aleix Esparago (he has experience of circuits, tyres, brakes AND Ducati after all).

Yes he is under contract to Aspar at the moment but I don't see him being blocked by the team (The have after all already allowed RDP to test for Suzuki)

That one takes the biscuit ; )

So let me get my head around this.....according to your theory, if you have won a race at national or maybe even club level you are therefore a 'winner' and should be capable of winning at MotoGP then?

Unfortunately the reality is a lot more complex than that, and in these days of extremely limited testing schedules teams need a rider who can hit the ground running rather than having to learn to ride the bike during a race weekend. They will only get that from someone with experience of at least some of the factors involved.

Puig may not be the nicest guy on the planet, but he is a good manager and has made sure 'his guys' have got places in top teams throughout their careers. He was instrumental in Stoner getting into Moto GP too remember?
I don't know what haas prompted Schwantz to launch his latest tirade, but it is pretty unprofessional of him that's for sure.
