Aaron,... congrats on Susan's and your efforts.

Did a new smaller helmet fix her "lift" problem ? Did you have any similiar problems yourself?

Thanks everyone ... we sure had a great time.

One of the highlights was seeing Paul set a record and also just getting to know the guy. He leads a pretty amazing life, let me tell ya. Can you tell I'm not jealous? ;)

I'll tell you what, I'm damn pleased with what this Team Elves thing has evolved into. Not only is it terrific to see folks participating and running for records, but it's giving me the latitude to do what I want to do, the way I want to do it. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't trade my experiences over the first 3 years of this program for anything. But this change is a good thing, for the team and for me. This is the way to go racing.

Jim, yes, we got a pair of Shoei RF-1000's, one for each of us. Fantastic helmets, low drag, very quiet, no lift to speak of. She had some trouble on one pass where she accidentally got the strap too tight and it worked back into her throat, but other than that, it worked great. I had no trouble at all with mine.

RT, we ate at the buffet twice, no issues! We also went to the little Chinese place down the hill, it was excellent.

that's a VERY cool pic, Aaron! and right on Susan!!! can't imagine what that's like. i've done 150 indicated on pavement, twice on the VFR, and the bike is such that it was pretty peaceful, actually, but still it was Mighty Damn Fast. blazing across the salt at those speeds must be surreal. plus, Susan had no fairing to get down behind. WOW!!!

FBaD

ps: call me sentimental, but i really like seeing that old exposed-spring White Power shock hanging off the bottom of Susan's bike :)

Thanks, Ferris. Yeah, I'm pretty proud of the job she did. Hangin on to that bike at a buck sixty, and keeping it going straight, and watching the tach and actually making adjustments during all that violence, it ain't easy, let me tell ya. She did a hell of a job. When we get the traction issue resolved, I fully expect to see her in the 170 range.

I have a late model front shock mount on the north end of the WP, hence the ultra low ride height. Couldn't quite get the front as low as the back, that's why it's angled a tad. The front tire wants to run into the heim link y'know.

The motor in that bike is under 1350cc and makes almost 140rwhp. She was getting into the 8000 rpm rev limit in 5th gear!

Front brake? She don't need no stinkin' front brake. Hell, I pry her rear pads apart, she don't even have a rear brake until she pumps it about 10 times!

Actually, there's a good reason for using the WP in this stuff versus the Showa. That wasn't a random selection. I've always run a WP on the RRS2 as well, although this year it had an AMS.

Aaron,
I'd LOVE to have a full res version of that picture.
I've got quite a few for you also from Sept.
I need to hook up with Josh and finish getting all the pictures together for a final CD burn.

Unfortunately, I don't own the digital version. That's a scan of a small 11x14 poster someone sold me. It's the same folks who did the at-speed phot from last year. They'll sell me the digital file but it costs extra.

I *have* scanned it to 1024x768 (so I can put it on my desktop), anyone who wants a copy speak up so I only have to send it once. It's a 2.25MB .bmp, I can send it zipped but it only drops to about 1.75MB for some reason.

Aaron,
That would be great for me!
I want to use it as wallpaper/screen saver also.

Glenn, I'll take you up on your offer. I'm working on putting a CD together of all our Sept Bonneville Pics for all who attended.

I'll shoot my address to the email in your profile.

Thanks much!

I'm still working on giving all the images at least a little compression. I also need to finish the video clips ....

Josh,
The offer is still open regarding an FTP server.
FTP them to me and I'll help with the compression.
Not much help with the video.... Need to upgrade the PC a bit for that (going to do it very soon anyway).

If you want send it to me @ djk@super20.shacknet.nu - I'll post a link to it on my web server here so anyone who wants it can download it. Gotta get my bandwidth's worth from this cable modem anyway - just don't tell my co. about the web server. They don't like that :)

Aaron, Susan, cangratulations, looks like us Canadians will have to come down and take back the record, just kidding. Are you using a tie down to compress the front forks? Used to be an old drag racing trick, did'nt think that would pass tech though. You both have done an awsome job, keep up the good work.

Gootch ... y'all have done a terrific job out there in years past, I know I speak for everyone on the team when I say we'd love to have you join us next year!

Yeah, I used a Pingel front end tie down on the front, as well as dropping the forks in the trees. Works pretty good. Sometimes it makes a bike want to weave a little, but it didn't bother the S1. There's no rule against it.

All ... I have uploaded the 1024x768 of Susan here. You can right click that picture (or that link) and save the target file.

Congrats Suzie! Ya done REAL good! After seeing your determination and disapointment in Sept, I knew you had it in you.
More good things to come in the future I'm VERY sure.

I knew you were pretty sore after the Sept spill but didn't realize you had broken anything.
Bummer, heal fast my friend.

Aaron, have you tried a Shoei ZII? I sent mine back to Shoei after a few days due to "whistling" and they're offering any RF-1000 plus extra sheilds (to make up the price difference) - or another ZII. Just wondering if you had a comparison.
thanks
