Realistically it is about half a gallon left, so figure out your average MPG and cut it in half. That said, I've done over 30 miles with the light on.

I wouldn't plan on more than 20 miles. Froggy is a hyper miler that get way above average gas mileage.

On my '06 I made 28 miles from "light on" to pushing, in town, in traffic. Only had to push a quarter of a block up hill on a 95F degree day.

I have seen 33 miles of reserve use coming down the Tenn side of the Cherohala Skyway when I forgot to gas up on the South side. Lots of "run up to 70, kill it and coast" modes were needed. It was still running coming into Tellico. It took 4.36 gallons of much needed premium.

There were three of us on Ulys. We got some strange looks from folks parked in the overlook parking lots as we came by at over 60 mph with no engine running. They probably were wondering if we had electric power.

I think mine comes on early. I've gone at least 30 miles on reserve (with the ~45 MPG 09 engine) and still it's only takes a smidgen over 4 gallons to fill up.

One of these (30 oz):

Inside one of these:

...is another 30 miles(ish) without pushing : ) I use my extra once every few months and refill at the pump, just so it stays as fresh as possible.

search for owners manual bottle, they'll come up. They're for tractors, used to keep manuals on board and out of the weather.

One is gas, the other is first aid - hence the reflective labels.

I have gone exactly 34 miles after the light came on. Ran out in the middle of nowhere (NE Iowa) but was able to coast downhill to a wood stave (for barrels?) manufacturing plant after the engine stopped. There just happened to be a guy there in the shop, along with the owner of the business. They gave me a gallon of gas to get to the nearest town and would not take any money for it. I tried to hand them a $10 bill but they insisted they like to help people out once in a while. Total downtime, about 10 minutes! Sometimes it just works out.

I made it 35.5 miles and leaned the bike over to the pump side, fired it and launched it hard until it ran out again. Pulled in the clutch and coasted into a station a quarter mile away!

Tootal, that reminds me, on the 1125s, the pump is on the right of the frame, not left. It has happened a few times where I was low on gas when I got to work, then when I go to leave work the bike wouldn't start while on the kickstand. I would have to hold it upright to start it up.

Well given the tiny sample size (only 7 samples between two bikes) it is hard to make a fair comparison, but the Ulysses is gigantic and I would bet it is less aerodynamic than the X1, which is a huge factor in fuel economy. Also, my 1125CR is a gas hog and still has beaten those posted numbers.

When I tour, I carry a fuel bottle and a small siphon hose as well. Have siphoned a gallon or so out of my bike to give to friends or guys stuck on the side of the road.
Only had my Uly for a little while but my first 2 tanks (or should I say frames ; ) ) have been 47 mpg.

I agree froggy but I get close to the figures shown on the website..I would have thought 10 years newer bike would have been better..
My 1965 Triumph only gets 35mpg,,Im not complaining..
It doesn't have the reminder light, just the old reserve switch on the second petcock..ride on..
