Still more questions -

I am getting ready to press the order button on a triple tree stand and wondering if any will work?

Ive read about the set that some folks buy but I have a rear paddock stand, so dont want to buy the set.

Maybe a dumb question but this is the first bike ive owned (aside from dirt bikes) that doesnt have a center stand option.

thanks

If you already have a rear stand, you can get away with using a bottle jack under the stock Ulysses muffler lift the front end up to get that wheel off.

Otherwise, the PitBull triple tree stand works great, just make sure it has the right size pin when you order it.

Would you be better off spending your money on a Sears style cycle/ATV jack and making a $3 exhaust cradle from 2x4's?
Then you can lift both wheels at once using the muffler's reinforced lift points.

If you need to remove forks, swingarm, both wheels, etc you will be covered.
Everything but the muffler itself, and for that you already have the rear stand.

Just in case you hadn't considered that path.
Plans are available here with a template for the muffler shape to cut with a jigsaw.

Arcticktm -

I did see that and considered going that route. Not sure why, but something freaks me out about lifting the bike by the muffler.

I know plenty do.... maybe an option. I got several 2 x 4's and may give it a shot before pushing the "buy" button on the stand.

thanks

Two orange ratchet straps on either side of the bike are what I was using to grab the triple tree (from both sides) in place of a proper stand. It worked great honestly. I do have a triple tree stand now so I no longer have to move the heavy duty locking ladder around to be creative.

heavy duty locking ladder

As an aside, nothing looks weirder than a bike with no tires and forks. She looked really depressed for about 16-18 hours.

If you go that route (muffler stand), it helps to put some non-slip material on the cradle, to protect the muffler paint and keep it from wanting to rotate left or right. I just staple gunned some weatherstripping to it.
I just let the muffler cool a bit before jacking it up.
Recall that the muffler was specially built for this purpose by Buell, as long as you stay close to the stamped in triangles.
It truly is a slick way to go, and very easy.

Bigme007, take a look at my pictures in this:

I use a simple turnbuckle on each side that loops around the footpegs to stabilize the bike on the Craftsman Lift. Very solid and easy to use. I leave my bike on this lift all winter! Thanks.

NICE looking adapter, Motorbike!!

What material did you use for the blocks? Looks like it might be a composite decking type material?
