Has anyone installed an aux. tank on thier Uly? And, if so, where did you tap in the fuel line from the second tank. I've been looking at http://www.tourtank.com/tourtanks.html and they seem reasonably priced. I'd mount mine on the back rack I got from Twisted Throttle, and was thinking of the 2.25 gallon size, not too much weight! at 40 mpg that would give me a range of almost 250 miles with a half gallon reserve! Now, if I could figure out how to get 45 - 50 mpg i'd really have some range! }} |

I'm running a 5 gal summitt racing tank. fuel line runs into the fuel drain plug on the fuel pump. If you run only 2.25 gal I would gravity feed through a shut off valve into the main tank. Will PM you with address you can view some photo's if your interested. Sorry best I can do; I'm away from home and time & upload limited on this end. Tim |

What is the max weight for the top case on the XB12X? Gas is 6 pounds per gallon, right? |

Someone should make a tank that fits where the "stow and go" bag fits....I bet it would hold at least a gallon... |

Gasoline weighs 5.8 - 6.4 pounds per gallon. Ambient temperature makes a difference. Approx. 6.2 # at 72 degrees F. (Message edited by dbahm on March 18, 2008) (Message edited by dbahm on March 18, 2008) |

Yes, are you the one on ADV that asked? I don't remember. I have a 5 gal tourtank setup, removed the drainplug on the fuel pump, replaced with a hose barb, used a shut off valve on the left side next to the seat. When fuel light comes on, turn on valve, and about 20 minutes later, the main is full again. Works well, and exceeds my ability to ride it empty, after 300 miles I gotta get off to stretch my legs.
be sure to get the baffle, and the vented cap option. Any questions just ask.. |

I have a similiar setup however with the slightly smaller 4.5 gallon tank. I also use the rear rack, but with some mounts that I can take off easily. I also have quick disconnects on the fuel line which is plumbed in to the drain, also. I often take it off and use the trunk if I want to go any where with my wife, or like in a few weeks when I take off cross country with my grandson, while he is on Spring break. The passengers like the extra fuel stops. With the tank on I can easily get the "Iron Butt" max allowed of 350 miles between fuel stops.

Same as everyone else, I hooked it up to the drain plug on the fuel pump. I have the 4.5 gallon tank and only put 4 gallons in at fill ups. Get the baffle and vented version. If you look close at the vent hose, you can see I have it in a pig tail. That will keep gas from coming out on take offs. |
