I should probably post this on the 'rides' section, but I wouldn't want other 'Uly' riders to miss it. I have recently renewed interest to motorbikes (in general) from a long time ago when I used to work on them in shops and race them. The art of motorbike craft has come a long way. I use the Uly to great advantage to go between production plants for my job, via gravel road, curbs and RR tracks. No complaints. I do get very close to the factory claimed mileage, which is quite impressive, and am amazed that publications do not make note of this or somehow think that this is not as important as speed.

But, today, in the rain, that same 'adventure' touring Uly put in a stellar performance on the 11 mile ride from Deal's Gap, chasing a hot rod dune buggy (and performance bike with rider), loaded with luggage, then made its way safely back to Columbia through the storms. I would say that unless you are a very accomplished club road racer, the Uly will satisfy. So, why do we need an 1125R? Nuff for me.

<so,>

Because we want Buell to be a healthy company and that's by them selling a crapperload of bikes. I for one want the option of a smoother (counterbalanced)motor, 6 speed, better heat management, more power, ect, ect. It's a lighter package also. Air-cooled is fine but water-cooling brings much to the table. Erik Buell is no one's fool and even though many of us (not me) think water-cooling is unnecessary, he knows that this will bring new riders to the Buell brand. He'll keep the air cooled bikes around if the sales stats show it makes good business sense. But, most of you guys will see the light if a water cooled ULY comes out and it's faster, lighter,carry more fuel, and you know for a fact it will have a 6 speed tranny. You'll all be drawn to it like a moth to a bright light.

I did a couple of passes on the dragon a couple weeks ago. I'm no racer, so I was no where near the Uly's limits. The one scary thing with it is that it's so tall. I need to be out on the right side of the lane to keep my head inside the center line on the left-handers. It was really cool having my head over the dropoff on the right handers, though.

I agree with what electraglider said, too.

The "altitude" of the Uly is a killer. If you aren't careful, you can round a turn and find your head even with the grill of the oncoming traffic for sure!

I love riding the Uly on the Dragon.

Pure. Straight. Fun.

Paul,

Uly's rock on the Dragon, and pretty much everywhere else.

Glad to see another SC Bueller. Check in on our thread here:

greaseman,

You are absolutely right....this Ulysses was made for you and me.

Electro,
+ 1! I want the option.....but I don't need it. This air cooled lump ain't too bad. If the next generation Uly goes that way I'll be watching with interest for sure!
