I just finished a trip from Lake Placid through VT, NH, and a very small part of ME on my 2006 City-X. I have over 11, 000 miles on the bike. Though I love my bike I must admit that while on the trip I really became curious about the ULy that my buddy has. Between the hard bags, ease of off road travel, and longer suspension I started thinking of maybe pulling the trigger on the 2008. But here in lies the question. While I took my buddies ULY up a ski access dirt road I noticed that I really did not like the high handlebars. I wondered if anyone has put on a pair of city-x handlebars on the ULy? If so, did it place the wind over the helmet due to the lowering of the rider? That is one of my buddies major complaints about his bike.... the wind at speed 80mph and over. Let me know? tanks

The stock bars were (for me) just right with the original '06 seat. When I put the low seat ('07) on; I felt the bars were too tall. So I replaced them with medium rise Renthals, from American Sport Bike.
I did this more for arm position than escaping the onslaught of air at high speeds.
Far as wind blast the size of the Ulysses wind screen is more to blame(?) than handle bar height. Wind blast at those speeds, is what it is, regardless of the handle bar height. Unless you go clip on.
Either way, air flow was never a problem for me...

Tank-
i've had the city-x handlebars on my Uly for a few months now and i like the riding position. i'm 6'2" with monkey arms, so forward and down works. as Teeps said, wind blast is a way of life, i like it to hit me in the chest, with smooth air around my helmet. the tall screen caused too much turbulence, so the stock screen is on now. (2006 Uly with 07 stock seat).

I installed the Renthal Mid-rise bars from American Sport Bike the other day and just love them. The slight forward body angle is much better for higher speeds. More important, it looks bitchin.

Or you could just keep the CityX and build it up with the hard cases. Running Blast bars by the way. You loose a lil bit in ground clearance, but I will take her on everything but single track
