Jeff,

Yea, I put the strut together myself for like $40 bucks total. I've actually got 3 that i experimented with. Will measure tonight and let you know but I think they were 15", 17", and 19" center to center. They are actually stock car suspension A-arm rods from the local stock car supply shop with Heim ends (one left hand thread, one right hand thread). Only issue is the Heim ends are english, while the shock bolts are metric, so there is a tiny bit of slop. I made some aluminum spacers for the side to side play then tightened the heck out of it and there isn't any noticeable slop. Have 92 miles of drag runs with no issues...

Heres a pic of my stock wheelbase road race bike with the shortest strut. Have the long one on the junkyard dog...

I've actually got an S&S mount on my road race bike! works well too with the XB heads. Hopefully we will catch at da' grove soon!

I also build swingarms if your interested (RAW engineering). $400, you supply a core, 7" or 3" stretch, powdercoated whatever color you want....

Where did you get the A-arm rods? I am heading over to Milwaukee this weekend. I planned on making one, but for 40 bucks might save myself the time.

The swing arm I have was extended by Trac. I am hoping to get close to the 10's with 95 hp and the arm, but it will probably come down to me and not the bike!

Jeff,

I got my strut parts at

Behling Racing Equipment
5170 North 125th Street
Butler, WI 53007

Just behind the Harley-Davidson Capitol Drive plant

I think 10's are possible for you. I'm making 103hp and running 10.70's......The bike pictured above ran 11.30's making 97hp (wheelie limited). If you can get your bike to 60 foot in the 1.6 second range, you should be right there...

Wes:

What GSXR seat unit is that? Did you customize it? Looks great on the racebike.

BenM2,

That seat is actually the airtech piece for an S1. I've been told its basically an Aprillia RS250 tail section modified to fit an S1 frame. I need to update my profile....It was a number of years ago I was racing an X1 with a gsxr tail section from a 1996-99 GSXR750:

Nancy watching Wes's butt very closely

Oh R1DynaSquid, Probably because a set of leathers on a BUELL looks pretty good, then they would on an R1. HeHe LOL

It will be a little wheelie limited:-)...130+hp...should be fun none the less...I wish I had some euro gearing...I guess that the 29 tooth will have to do for now...maybe I will try to make a strut and drop the trees...will keep ya posted...You will prolly all be laughing at my times...Took the mustangs to the strip several times...not been to the strip with a bike before...let me re-phrase...never been to the strip with a bike before and been able to run(got rained on twice)...there is always a first time...

Hardest part without having an airshifter is managing to get your foot back up on the pegs in time to shift.

Good luck & have fun.

Help me understand, what is the deal with the strut? I would have thought it would make for wheelspin but all the fast dragbikes run solid. How's it help?
