Am about to purchase a 2003 Lightning XB9S. Require some help with a technical question. Namely, the bike I will be getting is (originally) a low-rider version. As tall as I am I prefer the less cramped regular height version. Because the only regular height bike they have is a demo that's been laid down they are taking the seat from the regular size demo and putting it on the lowered bike (apparently the seats are different between the two--this adds to the height). Further, they are going to raise the suspension on the brand new (originally lower)bike. Can anyone see any problems with this? They say it'll still be covered under the original warranty and that those are the only two differences between the low-rider XB9S and the regular height XB9S. Is this true? Will this somehow negatively affect the integrity of the bike or is it a simple swap? Thanks in advance.

You will need the forks and shock off the demo bike also to have a true XB9S. The forks and shock on the XB9SL are shorter.

So their answer is to crank up the preload and change seats?
What a great dealer you have there!

Are the forks actually shorter or is it just shorter internal springs to drop the front down?

Just in case you missed it, that was sarcasm on Dave's part.

To make it into a XB9S versus an XB9SL, you need to do a complete swap of the FULL SUSPENSION as well as the seat. 'Raising the suspension' most likely will have negative consequences, not to mention being a sad cop-out on the dealer's part.

Turns out they did swap the full suspension. I now have the bike in my garage and it's oh soooo sweet!
