Electric all the way! But this bike's top speed is 55 :-(
And seat hgt. is 35.5".... not for me.

I do agree that electric motors have their place, just not in vehicles. Too impractical for every use and I wonder how many batteries or how long an extension cord I will need to make my annual trip to Minnesota pulling a boat and all my gear from here in Utah when this comes about, (hopefully not). Use them for shopping locally and to go to work for short distances, thats all.

Also, how in the "practical world" can we use pure electric for trains, planes and trucks to convey all our needs to those stores we shop at with our electric cars.

We need another fuel right now to wean us off carbon bases fuels until we fine that ultimate fuel so we can stay what we have always been in this country, mobile, and the best we have right now IMHO, is CNG.

gas, all the time, all the way, because it is impossible to flippin carry a generator on this.... cuz it would weigh more than the motor that is on it.

I test rode the Zero S a couple of Sunday's ago and if I had the money I would absolutely buy one. It's perfect for a commute to work or around town if you stay within the range. I know I wouldn't go on a 500 mile trip in a gas driven vehicle if my tank would only make it 400 miles with no stations in between. So if you need a vehicle to just get to and from work and still be within it's range then why not?

They already have electric trains. One of the French ones has hit 360mph. Problem is it is not battery powered. Batteries will keep getting better and better. My first laptop would last less than an hour unplugged my current one lasts 5hrs. Once the batteries get more advanced the technology will rocket forward. I can't wait although I do love burning up those dead dinos...

Most of that increase in laptop battery operating time can be attributed to lower power consumption by the device. The battery plays a part, sure, but a lot of it is low power devices.

Todays laptops suck up more power than older devices. An Intel Core i7 2.6ghz uses 130w of power, vs say a 600mhz Pentium 3 that used 35w. Also the average modern laptop now has a 17" screen, vs 13" several years ago. Bigger and faster hard drives, dedicated graphics cards, wifi, bluetooth, blue ray players all suck a ton of power.

If you built a laptop with say, an Intel Atom processor (1.6ghz, 4w), used solid state hard drives (7w vs 15w of a spinning drive), LED lit screens instead of CCFL (10w vs 40w), then disabled wifi/bluetooth, you could easily get over 15 hours of battery life with normal usage. My old laptop had dual battery slots, and if one ran low I can swap in another battery, I was good for about 18 hours of usage before depleting all 3. Oh, and that was on a Pentium 4-M : )

You can always find exceptions, but if you compare apples and apples, you get less power consumption new vs. old.

9950 is an above average price but still well below other electric powered vehicles. It will keep going down as time goes by

I feel $9950 is a great price. As time goes on it will come down.

I suppose if I was trapped in a city that had no real woods, I would use the MX one and run the sidewalks and get sortcuts and relive my bike messenger days. Actually they would be great for that, I freakin hated the hills in Seattle for petalling.

but at current, there is no way it could be my only bike, and at that price, I dont think it will be my 6th either.
