The Roehr Motorcycle, Available At Glendale Harley

Harley-Davidson/Buell of Glendale has announced an agreement with Roehr to sell their high-end sport-bike through our dealership.

What is Roehr? Roehr makes the Roehr 1250sc, the fastest and most powerful American production sportbike ever offered. It's a new generation of American motorcycle, designed to take on the world with its 180-hp supercharged version of the 1250cc Harley-Davidson Revolution engine.

It's a great bike, designed for both the road, and track.

Because of our strong commitment to racing, and since the heart of the Roehr is a Harley-Davidson, we thought it appropriate that the bike be offered through Glendale Harley.

The ROEHR is built using the highest quality cycle parts in the industry, featuring a unique, modular bi-metal chassis, Marchesini wheels, Akrapovic mufflers, Ohlins suspension and Brembo brakes, and can be further modified and customized according to rider preferences. The ROEHR 1250sc, is a uniquely American combination of brawn and beauty.

The bike will be sought after by collectors and riders looking for something very, very special to put in their garage. Base price of the Roehr 1250sc is $59,995.

Stop by the dealership to see it in person! Demo rides only given to very serious prospects.

Pffft! $60k!? Yeah, good luck with THAT! Unless it's 6x faster than anything else on the market, it certainly isn't worth 6x the price.

It's kind of neat, and I'd like to ride one, but I just can't justify $60K for a bike.

Of course, if I could afford $60K for a bike, I don't think this bike would be #1 on my list of bikes to purchase either.

I'm sure there's a handful of people out there that will buy them.
Just look at Confederate Motorcycles.

I'm betting Leno already has one in his little collection.

Doubt that Roehr is trying for mass appeal.

Heck, the 990 Desmoseidici sold every one before they left the factory... I'm betting the Roehr will sell to a small, select group of folks...

... and yeah, for me it'd be kinda hard to justify taking out a second on the house.

Like yachting, if you have to ask the cost, you can't afford it.

I don't feel that an 1198 is double the motorcycle that an R1 would be.

An MV F4 isn't three times the motorcycle that an R1 is either.

There will be people who will buy these.

You forgot to mention the MV Agusta F4CC. A bargain at TWICE the price of the Roehr... BUT they throw in a matching leather jacket and wristwatch with every purchase...

You can still get desmosedicis. There are dealers with ones buyers backed out on. I'll never have that kind of money but i'd get one of those over a Roehr.

Isn't that like 20K higher than what was estimated for msrp long ago?

The EPA & DOT certifications alone added $10K to the price of the bike.

Hell, you could take a used tuber, screw a turbo on it, Baker 6 spd. conversion, set of Ohlins forks and shock, CF wheels....blow the Roehr off the track and/or road for less than $25K, including the price of the used S1 or whatever.

"Pffft! $60k!? Yeah, good luck with THAT! Unless it's 6x faster than anything else on the market, it certainly isn't worth 6x the price."

I agree, but to a lot of people, having others know they are on a $60K motorcycle is all it will take to make the sale. It's the same reason people pony up nearly $50K for an E-class Mercedes when V6 Accord is probably the better car at half the price.

"There will be people who will buy these."

I hope FB is right; and for Mr. Roehr's sake, I hope enough people feel that way for him to stay above water. I would pay $60K for that way before I would pay $60K for a custom chopper.

I'm pulling for the guy to succeed, but I'm obviously not in his target demographic.

If I were a rich man I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

It's a cool design and if I recall correctly, Mr. Roehr is a real stand up guy.

He frequents BW from time to time. He IS a stand up guy.

I hope he succeeds. Ricky racer will not find the Roehr attractive because there won't be enough on the spec sheet to justify the additional cost.

Others will find it attractive because of it's exclusivity. It's a well crafted machine. There are many high quality components.

It's amazing to me to see what people will put into $25,000 HDs in chrome and paint. They will EASILY spend $60,000 on a bike and that bike will have no where near 180hp.

Rfischer - I was just gonna ask if that bike is race only or if it has CARB certification.

I like what Roehr is trying to do. It's a steep price, but I hope that bike can carve out a small market for itself. It takes balls to go out on a limb and do what he's doing.

There isn't any race class I'm aware of that would allow a supercharged, 1250cc motorcycle unless it's drag racing (and that thing ain't built for the dragstrip).

Plus it won't get lost in a sea of other $60,000 barges that look just like it.

Same thing could easily be said for the 1125R/CR. A little tuning, and it too will smack the Roehr. Won't see one at every biker-bar either...

Try as I might, I don't see the merit in Mr. Roehr's offering. I DO know how he gets to $60K, but not where the cache, sex appeal, or value is. Look what $25K buys you at the Ducati, Aprilia, or MV Agusta store.

If I wanted a 60k V-Rod based sport bike, I couldn't build anything nearly that nice for that kind of money.

It seems at *least* as reasonable as a $23,000 KTM RC-8, or a $28,000 Ducatti 1098S, both of which can barely out perform a $10,000 Kawasaki.

I can get the same loading of carbs, protein and fat at McDonald's with 3 big macs that I can with a Ruth Chris rib eye dinner for $100 less... and in 24 hours they all look the same.

...YET - that sizzling rib eye at Ruth's Chris is a sublime experience!!

????

MSRPs
1198=16495
R1=12490

and the 1198 weighs 75 lbs less that the R1. (dry claimed)

It's the difference between getting a one of 50 hand made watch and being able to walk in and buy a Rolex.

Were money no object, I'd buy the hand made one of 50 over the Rolex any day.

Then again, there are people who would ONLY buy a Rolex regardless of the uniqueness simply because it carries the cache of Rolex.

LOL, I guess this is all just proof that I'm a po' mo'fo. I'm hardwired for "value" comparisons.

I don't find it particularly "inspired". Kinda' bland, aesthetically speaking. I think it might get lost among the $8k bikes at Sonic, and no one would be the wiser.

Reminds me of the old "Bike Nights" in Oceanside, NY. Parked in amongst all the chromed-out, custom painted Harleys (which were getting the lion's share of attention) was one jewel-like Bimota which was COMPLETELY ignored by nearly everyone there... despite the fact the bike was worth any THREE of the chrome monstrosities parked next to it combined...
