WTF, Vince? Hate to hear that ya aint makin it. (I'm not 100%, actually- I'd wanna be comfortably past my work goals for March without missing that weekend.) I think after my recent lay-off, and un-employment holding hands with my tax return, I may have found the perfect solution to having no time and money, or no money and lots of time. Lots of free time! and lots of money! (well maybe not lots but enough to support a bike trip....) I'm hoping the weather will start to break realisticly and some other homies from the northwest ohio region will gear up with me. Do I have any takers.....mike from columbus? | ||

I'll be there Thursday and Friday morning before coming down to Suches. Might do the Cherry Cola Friday am. Wonder if the place will be crawling with law that early in the year. | ||

my intel says 5-0 recently has been lite, but as it gets warmer, it gets warmer. I know alot of people moan and groan about heat on the dragon, but If they are saturating the dragon they are not in other places. That whole area is great. | ||

I don't think you'll have a problem with the THP. They're only there on weekends and that weekend will probably be too early for them. IF there's any law there it will likely be the Blount County Sheriffs. They don't harass bikers like the THP does. Great developments, fellas! I'm trying to justify enough time off on the right days to (a) not go broke and (b) get my riding jones satisfied with a bunch of Buell buddies. I'd happily volunteer to lead some good rides in the area, with or without doing the Gap. Rides thru the area to Suches, and rides from Suches to the Gap are plentiful- mostly without a huge po po presence. This falls pretty close to the beginning of the season here, so <be> about po po possibilities on the way to the Gap. BCSO respects respectful and responsible riders. Heck, that sounds like a good slogan. Also working on a rendezvous at the Shed. It would be good to know the traveling itineraries of all youun's, to giterduuunn. Who's passing thru Maryville TN when?? | ||

I've apologized to Dragonslayer for editing out the word "pig" in his post above. As I said in my apology, I should have PM'd him and asked that he remove the word instead of me going in there first. Well, since we're talking about this - I did use "pig" to describe the Tennessee Highway Patrol. I know there are more good and respectable cops than there are of the other kind. I only have disrespect for the THP, not for cops in general. The BCSO will pull someone if they're getting too crazy at The Dragon, but at least they treat people with respect. The THP have been known to ticket people for 31 in a 30 and have been jerks about it, while they themselves cross the double yellow line, endangering others on the road. Anyway, like I said before for anyone going to MB and taking a ride to The Dragon, I don't think you'll have anything to worry about. IF there's any LEOs there it will likely be the BCSO. I will be pulling an all day 984 mile ride in on Thursday, so I will be there late. You won't be able to miss the 4 beam setup though. | ||

I'm racing at VIR the weekend prior to MBVI so it's not likely I can make it this year. MB's a great event and I've really enjoyed seeing and riding with you all there over the past few years! That said, if the stars line up I'll ride up on the Tuono. Have a great time! | ||

Well I confirmed last night that Mr_t and I are going to make it! We'll toss the bikes in a van and make the 14 hour drive due south until the frost that has migrated into our innerds since November melts in that hot Georgia sun! This will be my first time out to MB - Mr_t has a few of these in his portfolio so it is my treat to tag along. Actually this will be the furthest south in the 'ol USA I have gone! The plan is to ride the dragon area a couple of days before moving on to MB. Looking forward to meeting some of you! Cheers, Bob} | ||

Bummer Brad, Drew works Wed & Thu so we will have to decide what to do. If the weather is really nice we may still run down. A good riding buddy's wife died last week. He hasn't been able to ride for the past two years because of her illness so he may be ready for a trip around then. We'll have to see how that goes. I owe him a trip anyway since we stayed at his time share in PA when we went out there. If you can borrow a dirt bike we're looking at coming up to Park Rapids in the middle of May to ride in the Paul Buyan forest. | ||

It can't be said enough that Brad(Squids) needs to know as soon as can be found out, if enough people are interested in a brunch meeting at Smoky Mountain HD BUELL in Maryville Tn on the ride in. It is a great spread but it requires planning for the food crew. Some kind of head count and a locked in date and time plan will be necessary to make good hot breakfast food happen like it did last year. Brad, can you post a date and time to start the sign up? I will be there for sure. | ||
