Never underestimate the damage a closed head injury can create. WTF Republicans? You do me proud by regaining some balls and standing up for fiscal conservative policies and then you come up with this? |

Always for the children. I say to hell with the brats. Let natural selection be allowed to work as God and nature intended. I bet more children drown in five gallon buckets every year then are abducted by strangers. In all seriousness, I do realize sexual abuse of children is an important issue but most of it is perpetrated by family members or family friends. To impinge on everyone's privacy is not the way to go. What should be done is indefinite incarceration for child molesters. I heard a quote today that rings so true.. " a tyranny of incompetence" The lowest of the low is governing this country both on a state and federal level with few exceptions. So, it's no surprise "they" keep coming up with idiotic solutions. |

This bill is not about protecting kids. It is carefully wrapped in that mantra to garner support. It is all about an intercept mechanism to catch persons or organizations that are downloading copyrighted material - like music and videos. |

So since I host a mail server for my personal use and that of my family, I have to implement a logging service and retain records for two years? These arseholes have no idea of the technology behind the Internet. If I open up my Linksys router to the world and allow anyone to connect, the only record I'll have of the connection is a MAC address and a computer name, one of which can be spoofed, and the other changed at will. And there is no way to log and retain that useless information for two years anyway, the device doesn't support it. These people need to be voted out of office as soon as possible. I'd love to see an incumbant-free Congress next cycle. |

I agree . . . first that bill would NEVER fly at, for example, here at Columbia where the computers kick butt and you never log on. I read today (see the other post) about some of the stuff (friends salaries and goofy programs) that they are already spending their federal windfalls on . . . we should be ashamed. |

I'm all for "protecting children" but this isn't going to do it. Besides, when they throw law enforcement dollars at arresting teenagers for emailing nude pictures of themselves to their boyfriends (technically, it is child porn) I have no interest in helping them with the prosecution. A 12 year old ogling a 12 year old is not the same as a 32 year old ogling a 12 year old, but the current crop of prosecutors don't seem to think so. |

Since the solution to child rape is simple, and will not be done, ( Glen Beck's kiddie molester incinerator ) there is no other solution. NAMBLA is protected by the ACLU. There is no sign that therapy or jail cures these sick people, so the only solution is to isolate them from society. I'd use them as fertilizer for Okra. That should be isolated enough. That said, this bill is Big Brother. No good thing can come of it. zip. Vote non-incumbent. I know you should study the issues and make a rational choice, without regard for party, or looks. But you are not going to. So vote against the bum in office. Here's the guy who is my boss today. http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/feb/23/congress-will-investigate-postmasters-pay/ (Message edited by aesquire on February 24, 2009) |
