There's a new law in CA allowing the use of standard (low cost) ear plugs while riding and no longer requiring custom ear plus.

From Debra Bowen, Senator, 28th District:
"That change was contained in SB 315, the Senate Transportation Committee omnibus bill, and it was signed into law by the Governor on September 29, 2003. When the bill takes effect on January 1, 2004, motorcyclists will be able to wear any earplugs or molds - not just those that are custom-made - that are specifically designed to reduce noise levels, as long as they don't inhibit the rider's ability to hear a siren or a horn from another vehicle."

Why, for pete's sake, wasn't this allowed when they enacted the "custom ear mold" exemption?

I was going to say that the sheep getting ridden by the mounty was Newfie, but that would be mean.

I lived in California for about 20 years and didn’t even know there was a law about earplugs. Thanks for the information. Good to know I am legal now.

The guy with the pole (so to speak) was from Newfoundland...they referred to him as "Newfie" in the cartoon.

I usually don't watch South Park, but caught a few minutes of it last night. Otherwise, I would be pretty damn lost.
