I'm sorry to ask so many questions, Im a newbie and need help though! I ordered Pants, Jacket and Gloves through jackets4less on ebay. Everything fit except the pants. My jeans are usually 32w, but I ordered 34waist and they were way too small. So I figured I'd order a 40 waist. The other prblem was, the pants were 30 inseam/length. I have a 28 inch inseam, and the knee sliders were below my knees! granted, this is my first bike and I wont be sliding anytime soon, but I think I should have them just in case. Jackets4Less only has 28 in seam pants in size 36 waist, but they said they'd be getting more soon. Should I wait, or suck it up and buy the 40 waist with 30 length/inseam and not care if there a little too long? I'd appreciate anyones opinions on this!

Absolutely not. Get ones that fit properly.

Properly fitting pants will make you, your ass, and your pecker much happier.

On a side note, the knee sliders should sit just below your knee.

Bobby - first off welcome to BadWeB! As for sizing, it depends on whether you are ordering overpants or riding pants. I would highly recommend you taking a look at www.newenough.com. My husband has a 29" inseam and we've had good luck with TourMaster and First Gear pants, as they come in "short". This gives you proper fit and the protection is where it's supposed to be. The knees have 3 way adjustable location for a good fit. The nice thing about newenough.com is that they give you some real-life feedback on the items they sell. They also take returns without any hassle. Buying from e-bay, you may get stuck with ill-fitting gear that will not protect you when you need it most. Gear is not cheap, but it's well worth the investment. www.newenough.com also has a great clearance/bargain basement section. I've purchased lots of gear from them over the past few years.

Best of luck!

+1 for newenough.com

I, too, have gotten things from there for myself and the lady.

Thanks yall for the advice. I'd be SOL without you guys! Since I've invested $100+ on he pants from jackets4less, i figured I'd go ahead with them to avoid any more hassle. I will check out Newenough next time I need something though, thanks. I'm gonna wait and get a 40 or 42 waist with the 28 lengths. they said there getting more 28 lengths in a couple of weeks, hopefully they'll have some in 40 or 42 waist. Is it me or are motorcycle pants smaller than the actual sizes? 34 should have been a size bigger than my 32 jeans I'm wearing, and I couldn't even pull the zipper up on them!

+2 for newenough. We got my wife's jacket and pants through them, and they were both a little too small. There was no hassle whatsoever to exchange and get new sizes. They had great customer service.

Yeah, it's all about either trying it on in a store, or ordering it and trying it on at home and sending it back until it fits.

You can imagine which I prefer to do. I like Olympia's touring gear (they saved my ass several months ago), so I can find most of their stuff at a local shop and try them on. If I like the shop, I'll pay the extra $10 and buy them there. If I don't, I'll order them online.

You gotta' get the right fit, but be aware that the pants will "ride up" as you ride, based on how your riding stance is. That might change the positioning of the armor. I like my pants a tiny bit big, especially because I can wear a couple layers underneath them in 30-60-degree weather.

True, but the price difference I got via Jackets4less and the stores is like at least $50+. I gotta squeeze all the cash i can get into my tuition, plus my roomate can't stand our neighborhood anymore so I'm kinda forced to move to a yuppy neighborhood, more expensive! So the price which was around 105 was good, plus with the jacket and gloves they gave me a deal on shipping. Armor included! I guess I'll wear jeans and take my chances until there new shipment comes in. Thanks Badweb!
