I know where there's a GPZ 1000 stock stock and complete sitting in an impound yard. I'm just waiting out the legal time limit and I'm gonna jump all over it for my next project. I see Goose's bike in my future

I thought the 2nd one...The Road Warrior was great & the 3rd one sucked. But the first one now that I have seen it again lately is kinda lame. The acting is horrible & the whole gay biker subculture thing is kinda spooky.

I saw the first one here a few weeks ago. The whole thing had been dubbed with American accents and phrases.
Completely flat compared with the original, so I'm betting that's the one you see in the USA.....
I heard they had to do that with the original Crocodile Dundee as well, because the US viewers couldn't follow the slang or the humour.

I saw it many, many, many years ago in an underground theater. It must have been my drug induced haze but it made perfect sense to me then.

Sean,

Dude ... one of the coolest looking rides I've seen in a LONG time. I snagged it off this site a few months ago http://www.streetfighters.nl/.

Course, I wouldn't mind having this puppy either.

Ahh, thought there would be some fans on this forum.
I agree that the first two were the best and that if the rumored number four happens that it is in the spirit of these and not number 3.
Number one must be seen with the correct aussie dialog for the best effect and if I had to choose I would say number one is my favorite. Mainly due to the fact that it was shot around the area I grew up. My first road bike was a z1000 (influenced by Mad Max and another aussie bike flick called Stone)and I spent many hours of my late teens traveling on these roads, both on my bike and in hotted up Falcons and Monaros.
Many of the places remain unchanged, and can still be seen as they were in the movie.

Yeah it's a great place for riding. Easy to escape the rat race and just ride.

Streetfighters is a UK mag, Rocket. I used to buy it regularly but now I have trouble finding it.

Yes the original Mad Max is the best. Dubbed? I thought that was just how they talked down there.

Mr_smith, was there a law against aftermarket exhaust in australia when stone was filmed? all the bikes had stock pipes. the sound of that many z1's with kerkers and yosh pipes would have been awesome!!

I just took the kids to the video store for a movie and what do stumble upon? Mad Max, Special Edition, first time in North America with the original Australian English! Rented it for $1. Could buy it for $20(Cdn). Last time I saw it was twenty years ago with Spanish sub-titles (in Mexico.)

Philip,
No laws, and I agree the sound would be awesome. Myself and a few riding mates used to get around with open pipes on our zeds, top fun.
Open pipes save lives!!

That 'puppy' Jim is on the Crossbow Calendar and screen saver CD.

Roc that is not Streetfighters magazine in the above pic. Interestingly though, I see like the UK mag, they use the knuckle duster logo! A close friend of mine use to freelance for Streetfighter mag. Incidentally I'm sure you could subscribe. Often it's not easy to find in my home town either unless I journey to a newsagent who I know stocks it.

Back in the early seventies you could not get much aftermarket stuff for bikes off the shelf in Oz.
I remember importing Reed Titan tank seat from UK. Russ Collins cam and Yoshi Golden rods from the US.

The starting funeral run in Stone they just called for people with bikes to turn up an be in it. My mate had a yellow bikini faired CB750 that they covered with black paper to maintain the tuff image.
