Here's an idea.. taken in part from the Dragon closure thread..

Let's put together our own guide to 'must ride roads'. As a group, we must know a ton of routes that add to the Buell Perma-Grin..

What say we start compiling them..

We can break them up by geographic area and keep them stored somewhere (or print them up and sell them at cost to the BadWeb) all the killer roads we know.. all in one easy to use resource.. Kind of like Mad Maps for the Hooligan set..

Anyone else up for the idea?

I'll even start compiling them by setting up an email for folks to send the routes too..

I know we're Buell, and many of you feel like, eh, about H-D, but there is a pretty cool feature on h-d.com called "Great Roads" and also the "Ride Planner". They're under "experience". It allows you to plot out a nice trip, put in stops, rearrange stops, gives you mileage, etc. It will also tell you when you're near a dealership, and I think a Best Western.

You can save your routes, share them with people, or even post them to the Great Roads section so that others can enjoy them. And you can see what other people have already posted.

Last time I looked at it, it was still in the beginning stages, not much out there, but it might have more now.

I'm not sure how the H-D folks would like some of the types of roads that we would want to put on that listing of theirs..

Then again, it was just an idea. I'm sure we could either use the mapping stuff, or at the very least, put up the basic written directions for each..

I also like the idea of making it a 'members only' section.

LiO - While that's pretty good. There are smaller routes that really heavy traffic of riders might kill. Do we want to just put all our good rides out to the world?

Any other thoughts?

Court maybe this is something that can be brough to the elves attention for their site. I bet we could get some killer routes in the Buell.com members section.

I know a certain Road King rider that would give many here a run for their money.
Anyone ever see a Road King backing into a turn!?

I know when *I* was little, there were very few mountainy-type roads my dad didn't take us on. And we had a full dresser with sidecar!

I distinctly remember peeking over the edge of the sidecar and seeing a sheer drop down the side of a mountain.

Out west, they don't care much for guard rails. I think it's a natural-selection kinda thing.

So I know there's some H-D riders who would LOVE some nice twisty roads. They like to see sparks from their pipes and floorboards as much as anyone. : )

its actually a snow plowing thing. it's easier to push the snow over the edge without the guard rails.

Personally I feel we should keep "our" favorite roads to ourselves.Letting friends in on them.Keep it off the internet. So we will not have all the good roads patrolled by ticket nazi's.
Finding great roads on your own is a VERY great way to enjoy what we do...........ride our bikes!

Maybe Glitch will write his book in code.
Issue BadWeB decoder rings or key fobs or something. Without the key you'll end up on I-75 in Atlanta at 5:30, asking the car parked beside you if you're in Suches.
He'll say your map must have a glitch.

DFishman...I used to guide the Milwaukee river for salmon and trout when Milwaukee Co and the Wis DNR ripped a major dam down that allowed those fish to run for spawining. A web page called Lake-Link appeared 1 season after that damn was torn down, 1 year after that, the river was crawling with guys. The web doesn't help keep "hot spots" hot.

Keep your runs to yourself to keep them to yourself

as far as harley riders not liking twisty's, i got my knee down today on the DYNA. the trick, use the rear pegs, puts your knee in a great position for a little "scratchin". i do realize i'm in a minority group though!

can't wait to give the local squids a hard time about their pristine pucks and chicken cutlet tires. they don't look twice at our buell group with worn out pucks and shaggy leathers, but on a dyna...
