Picked up a beautiful '98 S3 today. Went to fill the gas tank and couldn't remove the gas cap. Flipped the Buell tab up, turned the key and nothing. What am I doing wrong?

(Please don't call me stupid, I'm very sensitive.)

You have to turn the tab too.

You didn't mention that, hope that's all it is.

Easy fixes are the best.

But the plastic piece probably will fail at some time. Gmann's aluminum replacement is a fine piece of work, and he recently lowered the price. Do an Ebay search on "Buell gas cap" or just click the above link and check it out.

Twin Motorcycles has a nice replacement, even machined out for the lock. 5-0dro should be able to get some in. Twins part # CAAD006.
