I'm seriously thinking about it. I've seen some very nice ways of mocking one up looking at companies that build custom exhaust for race and show cars. At the cost of what some want for a race exhaust, kooks, or KT variant, it seems like a viable and more creative option.

are you talking about just the muffler portion, or the whole header?

Header and all. I'm planning making a stainless header that is a cross between a Kooks and an XB Force header, with a 2-1-2 collector and dual shorty reverse cone megaphones at the exit in the stock location. Should sound insane .

Here's the header idea, more or less. It's actually mostly XB force style, and will be adjusted to get the lengths as close to equal as I can. Since the exit area is difficult to see from this angle I only made an outline of the megaphones at the bottom. I want to do two 14ish" megaphones with 1 7/8" inlets and 2" outlets with the largest diameter being 3.5". The megaphones will be side by side but at whatever angle allows the best fit and clearance.

Thoughts anybody? Basically I want to make a stainless, Tuber-fitting version of the XB Force pice header, with my own setup at the end. Here's the XB Force pipe for reference as well. My version would have tweaked headers to fit an S2, as well as my own post-header design that splits back out to two shorty reverse cone megaphones.

If you got the tools and the talent I say go for it. For me, I don't have the time so I contracted out with Kevin ad KDFab (Drummer Exhausts) and had him put together this pipe. 2.5" with a hidden baffle inside. It will bolt up to my current header and should look just like a Kooks pipe when installed. The baffel is small, only reduces the pipe to 2" so it should crack nice like a Sportster Vance and Hines pipe! I can't wait for spring!!!

Yeah I saw that, it looks sweet! The custom header is big bucks, but it's only marginally more than what all the left-over custom exhausts are going for. I'll probably start with the muffler portion, building it first to bolt on the stock header, and then building the custom header later, with it exiting in the same spot as the stock header.

I've found some killer exhaust shops that have some nice mockup kits for use, I'll probably use one of those or make my own based on their designs, haven't decided yet.

Can't wait to see it. It's one thing to have 'equal-length' headers, but how does one go about establishing the optimum length? I'd guess it would have to take into account the expected rpm range where you'd want the power to peak (or plateau)?

you need to calculate a few things first to get optimum length
these are mine

Jayvee I'm sure this setup will push my powerband up, but I'm mainly doing it just for looks and sound. I do plan to build the motor further with stage 3 heads etc down the line, so my powerband will match the motor at that time.

Albert your pipes look sick! I've seen them here on the forums before. I'm afraid to see what shipping would be from the UK though lol.

I'm going to try my hand at it soon and practice with steel first before going to SS. I have a bunch of 1 3/4" mandrel bends and straight tube to play with. I even made 1 set of flanges so far just to see how hard it was. Right now it seems cheaper to buy them. I also have researched tubing size and this size seems OK. Some articles I have read say not to go to large on the pipe/tubing diameter because it will affect the low and medium power band. I am just a normal rider so I do need some back pressure.
