Well I told you the day was coming soon, I finally got to ride my rebuilt Buell yesterday. I like the power band and the low end torque. I didn't care for the heat coming off the rear cylinder on the bottom of my right leg. Is anyone else feeling this? I think it will be fine but the longer you ride it your pants get kinda hot.

Before,

here she is about 98% finished now.

I was spraying it this morning and almost knocked it off, so it has finger prints now where I caught it. DOH! I am painting it yellow.

Mine has a yellow hugger on it. Really does the color balance well. Arizona, that thing is looking great!

Yes and thank you it does look good and I am proud to show it off. I am going with yellow front and rear, it should complete the whole package fine.

Mcelhaney I like the yellow fenders on your profile pic. I wasn't sure if this was going to be too much yellow but it seems to look fine to me.

Belt guard as well? Here is a pic for reference. When I first saw your frame and subframe, I thought it was going to be too much yellow. But I must say it isn't!

I do have the yellow chin fairing but have not decided yet if I want to put it on or not. I don't want to cover up my muffler or anything else so far.

william, nice bike i like the look , mark i think you should try to fit the chin to see how it looks, i agree that it might hide the shock and muffler but you never know it could look great. i love the more naked look as you can see by my bike, but some bikes look better with all the extras.

Thanks, neil. I like them both ways, with and without the chin. Once you get a non showa shock it would be nice to not have the chin so you can show that baby off.

I use the DEI Titanium exhaust wrap, keeps my leg cool(er) even on hot days.

http://www.designengineering.com/category/catalog/dei-cycle/motorcycle-exhaust-pipe-wrap-kits/titanium-exhaust-wrap-lr-technology

Looks like this - nicer than the beige/ivory color of standard wrap, I think.

Jeff

At least your header tucks away under the frame, unlike the S1(w) and S2(t). Sizzle...

American Sport Bike sells a nice looking carbon fiber heat shield, it does do a nice job of rerouting some of the heat coming off the rear header.

Make sure your fasteners are snug on that pipe, with the Jet-hot coating (inside and out, right?) you shouldn't be getting thigh baking heat. The ceramic coat is supposed to do at least as much as the wrap for that heat.

It is all tight feels kinda like heat from the head not so much the pipe. Not too bad yesterday so maybe it was just some startup issues with fuel mapping. Runs good, I guess it is a little rich for emissions though I ran it through emissions yesterday and she barely didn't pass. I guess I will have to figure out how to make some adjustments. I have the "race only" box on it, guess I need to get a cable and stuff to adjust on my confuser. Heavy Sigh! I don't care for the people at emissions much.

Nice bike! i like it without the chin faring, as like looking at the Buell Shock & Muff underneath as its different.
A few months back i had my m2 heads re built ports cleaned up cleaned pistons up new Hastings Rings machined some off bottom of barrels to bring pistons up for 40thou swish band. i don't have the heat cover & my headers are stock Buell no heat coating. when i first started to ride it in the Australia Summer ( Hot ) i could feel the heat from rear head. but after 10,000k i don't feel it now. just need to give motor a few miles to free up if you rebuilt it?
i ride mine a lot have a Dyna Twin Cam too but don't ride it now as Buell a lot more fun.

To keep some of the heat off, buy a pair of overpants such as Joe Rocket Alter Ego.

You will ride with more protection and look hot, but when it comes to engine heat they are way cooler then wearing just jeans!

Nice looking bike!
