We're compressing an O ring here. I just snug them down and use loctite. No need to get all anal about torque. They don't leak, and they haven't fallen off. If my motor explodes, I have a hunch it will not be because of the rocker cover bolts not being torqued to spec. My bike, my risk. I'm willing to live with it.

AK, you are sort of right except you are not factoring in the angle of the extension or crowfoot.
When it's at 90 degrees, it cancels out. Meaning what you have set on the wrench is what you get at the end of the extension or crowfoot.

I couldn't remember the formula but found this on the internets...

Check the 2nd page and also the 2nd to last paragraph.

My experience using anti-seize on rocker boxes is that the right torque happens with NO vagueness, the bolt just stops and then I add a bit. Be very careful that the top gasket(s) are properly aligned, a small pinch gives a big leak.

Be sure to get the pushrods back on right!!!

Well everything is just about back together and even though I do not hold a degree in brain surgery or rocket science i feel pretty good about the wrenching I did on her! Here are a couple of pics of the gasket that let go while in traffic. This was from the rear box directly above the header, lots of smoke while the oil was leaking out onto the pipe YAY! Thanks for all the help and advice along the way, here's hoping for no leaks when I fire her up tonight!
