http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buell_motor_company

Just started this 10 minutes ago. It's a Wikipedia page for the "Buell Motor Company" up until the first HD buy out and the name change to "Buell Motorcycle Company".
If anyone wants to fill in more detail then please do... I will add more when I can.

Regards

Somebody who knows how to work in WP needs to send that moderator a note explaining what the deal is. There should be a Pittsburgh Performance Products page also.

I put a comment on the "Discussion" page for your deleted page Gavin, but there is no link to perform an undelete. You'll have to re-enter your article.

Another thing you might try is what they suggest prior to posting new articles...

You can also start your new article at Special:MyPage/Buell motor company. There, you can develop the article with less risk of deletion; ask other editors to help work on it; and move it into "article space" when it is ready.

Factually incorrect in places... I TRIED to correct it and they reversed the corrections!!!

Insane.

I guess history is going to be controlled by idiots at Wikipedia that know nothing.

Gavin, you tried and thats more than anyone else on here did, so thanks for trying.

As for History, hopefully if people are researching Buell/Erik Buell etc they'll find their way here where the information is abundant

Ok, I am to stubborn to give up that easy after all... here is a first very basic draft of a potential Buell Motor Company page.
Please tell me what else we should have, including descriptions of the different models and pictures of each model. Ideas and corrections welcome.

Court and Dave, am I able to name your book as a reference?? I have no idea at all about the legal copyright implications that might have for you or me? Please advise!

I think the two RW machines are not included because they were built under the Pittsburgh Performance Products company name? BUT if that was the case then the....
Buell Show Bike, production 1
Lucifer's Hammer Race Bike, production 1"
....maybe should not be included either as the Buell Motor Company was not formally incorporated when they were built?
Comments from those who where their??

Sure . . Buell Distribution Corporation.

Buell MOTORCYCLE Company . . . did ONLY a couple things . . . pretty much design and build motorcycles.

The moment the crate broke the plane of the door it was purchased by Buell Distribution Corporation. They handled all dealer relations, contracts, parts, warranty, legal, events, shipping, media, advertising and so forth.

When HD dumped Buell that was one of the questions I asked . . . what is going to happen to all the folks at BDC. Some of these folks were making good money and spending a significant portion of their time on Buell.

Turns out that HD had to hire back some Elves.

The story gets:

  • long
  • hilarious
  • entertaining
  • predictable

>>>when Harley Davidson bought 49% of the business

Harley-Davidson bought nothing.

A new corporation was formed . . in fact two were. The one you want to talk about was Buell Motorcycle Company of which Harley-Davidson owned 49%.

There were a number of other machinations to make things work but that sufficiently and accurately gets you where you are headed.

That post above (May 12 9:06pm) should have a permanent place in the KV(with Courts corrections).

Just sayin'... If Wiki doesn't want to be the source for [knowledge of] all things Buell, Badweb should continue to be.

Good stuff, thanks Augusta, keep it up!

Next might be a brief description and spec of each model.... not every detail, but enough to tell them apart etc... unless someone else beats me to it, when I get time I will write up something for each model and post them here for corrections or additions.

My next post will be my latest draft of my Buell Motor Company wiki page work in progress...

I have no ego in this so if I have made mistakes or omissions then please tell me so we can get it right.

My specs for the RR models need expanding but I don't have much info to hand.
Did the RR1000 have 16 inch wheels? The RR1200 17 inch??
What was the spec and history of the RR1200 SP built in 1993?

Regards
Gavin
