I know we have had a million posts about these things. I currently have a catch can located under my tail section, however it must have gotten a bit full and started dripping which dripped onto my swingarm and rear disc brakes effectively ruining the pads and making that brake ineffective.

So I was wondering, where should I put the stuff? Here were my thoughts:

1. Tying it into my forcewinder intake, but was worried about that oil causing the carb and intake to get gooked up.

2. Run my hose and just point it at the ground but I am not crazy about the idea of oil (even mist) getting on the back tire. Also, I am not really sure how much oil comes out of this blowby. And was also worried about dirt getting back up into the motor? Not crazy about leaving oil stains everywhere I park.

3. I even though about taping the exhaust and running it there, but thought that maybe the preasure woud cause wierd things in the engine.

Would love to read your thoughts.

Thanks in Advance!!!

Mount it on the other side not above the rear brake?

Solves that problem, lol.

Yeah.. I am looking for a no maintnance solution. Chances are that would just drip on my belt and make me even less happy.

I ran my breather hose all the way to the back of the bike. It ends just behind the brake light and I have a filter on the end of it. never had any issues.

My can is hung off the swingarm reinforcement front mounting bolt. It hangs just behind the rear shock canister. It's out of the way, draining it is easy, and if it does overflow, it goes on the ground, not my tires or bike.

I routed a stainless line from the heads, behind the front pulley cover, and then to the can. There is a pcv valve tee'd off near the heads, and a short line goes into the intake tract, as it does in stock trim. The up hill track leads to the intake, the down hill track leads to the catch can. Theoretically, vapors go into the intake, spooge goes into the can.

All vent hoses go to catch container which is a BACK 20W50 oil container hidden under license plate on my S3T ...

NO VENT HOSES CONNECTED TO INTAKE !!!

so i'm a dumb ass, but whats wrong with running the vent to the intake. mines been like that for years and no problems. a can to catch oil thats primitive. koz5150 is lucky it got on his brakes and not the tire or he may have been down.

Most of the stuff that comes out of mine is water vapor with just a touch of oil to make it gross.
I cheated and routed my breather hose down to the street just in front of the rear tire.
No, it hasn't killed me yet. Not enough oil vapor to alter the traction.

I recently changed the black rubber hose with a clear one (polypropylene I think)
On a hot day, the spooge stays vaporized.
But on the colder days, it condenses out the baby snot. Fun to watch in traffic : )

I have been down once at a track (operator error) I am in no hurry to try that again...

I am thinking I may try running the hose down like that. It works on my Dad's sport, and he rides a lot more than I do. (he doesn't hava 3 year old!)

Not trying to sound smart but can't you just run a catch can wherever you want and;
1) just make sure that you don't overfill your oil
2) remember to check/drain the can every other fill-up?

I'm still running into the intake so I don't know if my suggestions are valid. I would like to know from someone with experience.

XB rocker box conversion, open elbows in place of PCVs, with both connected to the intake. as long as you let the bike fully warm up before you ride (like you're supposed to) your intake will stay oil free. mine has for about a year now.

with the stock breather system, warmed up or not, i got oil in my intake all the time.

So after working on it last night I was able to route the hose down behind the cam cover and in between the shock and exhaust can. I am going to keep an eye on it and see if it is dropping a lot of oil as I am slightly concerned about it getting on the rear wheel.
