on the piston pic you will see a angle on the side of the dome and on the polished head you will see the same angle cut in the chamber mine are cut at 30 degree thats why i cant just run any ole parts,,anyway if you set it between 30 to 35 thou between them when the piston comes up it pushes the gas mix off the sides and will re mix or swrill it ,, so to speak keeping the gas from falling out of the air or turning back into drops,,, when set right its supposed to lower the chance of pinging allowing the use of higher compression ,higher horsepower, better mpg, throttle response etc,,, nrhs has a better write up on their site under tech section (not all heads have angled bands and some had them from the factory ,,they can be cut but need the matching piston,, im sure someone here can fill you in on this better than me...

i guess it's the idea of keeping an even pressure throughout the whole circumference. or something like that.

Hey Nuf, refer to MOPAR Hemi. High compression without detonation.

hey guys,, well got it done!!!! ran thru the heat cycles and took first 20 min curise,,difference as night and day cant wait till the 500mi break in to see what its holding,,im still running it on the gas that was in it,, high test with octane boost and no pinging ,, after that is gone im going to try to run just high test at the pump i still have one more setting left if it pings to try,, i had to rejet the carb it was running 1st bar red on the a/f meter ,,before at cruise it was running 1 bar green or rich ,, now i have it back up to 2 bars green at cruise so no chance of a melt down,,i had to rewire the new ignition traced the wires and it was getting its power off the taillight lol,, wondered why the flip switch on the controls wouldnt turn it off,, good thing the rain didnt short out a light bulb huh? i sure would have been scratching my head,,traced the wires up to the brand new coil and it has had one of the posts broke off it looked like it had been soldered and smothered with jb weld,, so a new coil will be next in line,,but it sounds wicked mean with both cyl`s kicking,, with the high compression and cams the bike at idle (850) it shakes up and down so bad when it pops off that it moves around the garage on the kickstand, and on the road smooth as silk, allmost no throttle needed,, no vibes or anything, so over all im very happy with the built, here`s a few pics it was too dark in the garage ,, i`ll post a better one when the sun` out ,,,,

i'll bet that thing sounds like a big block chevy now.

the one thing i was told and i kinda found it out when the bike got dynoed with the bub pipes on is that the buell will lose horsepuppies when you run separate pipes. i dropped about 7 from the stock muffler when i did it. the bottom end was torquier but didn't do nothing for the top end. you might want to look into that yourself. maybe go with the force or d&d.

i didnt figure id miss a little off the top,, set the timing by feel ,still need to get the clear timing plug ,,and took alot of the bounce at idle out,,also it didnt like straight high test very well added a little octane boost and it only pings when lugging around at low rpm 2 up in higher gears, so its not the back road, 2 up rider i wanted but with the build list i didnt think it would be,,so it will prob hit the for sale or trade section soon,,and try to find a slower stock style bike,,and leave the race bikes for the younger guys,, i did play around a little,, heated up the tire and done a straight line blast with it and bumped the chip,, wow this bike will make you weak in the knees ,, enough that i said to myself this bikes too damn fast!!! as i shut it down ,, no offense guys but i didnt think i would ever say that about a HD based v twin engine!!!

well reset the timing and measured the octane boost this time instead of dumping it in,, no pinging unless it lugs below 1500 so here`s the last pic`s with the latest goodies,, thanks for all your support!!! IT`S DONE!!! for now lol

I hope you got a really good deal on it, there's a brick of CF money invested in it and some really nice mods for the 100mph with hair on fire guys. Let us know how you do on the turn around, that seems to be the one performance area that Buell is lacking in.
Luck!

i`m not going to sale it,,it` tooooo much fun now that its right,, 4th got rained out here so they had the river front works on the 5th,, wow we had a blast,, bikes everywhere of every kind,, but buell of course we were the only one,, a few of the local HD boys kept giving us the stink eye as we would ride by and when they would pass us hop the front end and blurp the pipes at us and laugh,, and at a red light take off and just blast the pipes around us,, i told the wife i had enough of this s**t , , let the wife off and parkfront and just rode around,, past the pack parked and sure enough ,, coming back there was the same jacked up sportster pulling beside me at the light, this time i just grinned no wife to make me behave,, light turned green , i leaned into it and let her go,up it shot, let it down quick rolled back on it started pulling up again, hit 2nd and as soon as the rpm`s came on it lifted and carried it ,about 4' high or so clear to the 7500 third shift untill it settled in but it still felt light in the front when the rpm`s came on on third,, i let out of it as i past where they were parked, top end of 3rd, and a easy BUST,this bike is all top end power leaves kinda flat and then comes on like a rocket in the high rpm`s, later that night i got asked by one of them , what size was that motor , i said little 1200, he said where`s the bottle under the seat i said no and lifted it off ,, as he walked off he said bulls**t that damn bike has to be alot bigger than that or you have a bottle hid under the tank,,i just grinned and said no just a stock bore buell but i think someone might have changed the cams or or done something to it,, it does seem kinda peppy,,, it was kinda like that priceless bit that was on tv ,so no it`s a keeper!!!

a number of years ago we were out riding with some friends and one of my buddies friends has a v rod. we decided to get it on and although in know if we would have kept it up he could have walked all over me, i still let him know that i was there. when we did finally get around to stopping somewhere, he was pretty impressed and right now he does have a uly that he really likes.
