I've encountered a strange situation. On my 99 S3 after a "spirited" ride, followed by short stop, when I start riding again the check engine light comes on a few minutes later and stays on for a minute or two and goes off. Suggestions?

Possible 02 sensor out of range (It is ignored at elevated throttle openings, and when it goes back to closed loop tosses a code).

Also, it could be an Engine Temp sensor, predicting a potential (or untrue) engine overheat. A little heat soak goes along way.

Or, it could any other sensor heat-soaking and pooping, for that matter, but without driveability issues, I doubt that.

I predict the 02 sensor, BTW, just because it takes awhile before it tosses its code-cookies, and the bike will ignore 02 sensor readings after a restart for, I believe, two minutes.

Why don't you read the codes and let the ecm tell you what sensor is at fault?
