I'm impressed with the color match on the frame to the wheels too. And I agree that that white pearl is going to be simply fantastic in the sun.

That bike is just awesome! Nice Nice Nice!

No mate. I've been out of Tom Price about five months now. You can have mining all to yourself. Live in Geraldton now.

Well I spent the day refitting the wiring loom. And setting up the Digi-Beast speedo.
In the process I stuffed the speed sensor so will need a new one!

The Buell logo on the swing is only a test, I'm going to buy a rattle can of red paint and spray the old white tank decals, then refit them to the tank.

Just need to refit the forks/muffler and oil lines and she's a goer! Yeha! : )

When the key is off the time displays on the screen.

Here's the pictures.

Cheers
Jodie

Sure hope Mr Buell is looking in on you Joe, that thing is awesome. Retro-tuber, new for '09! If you were'nt a Buell nut, you would never see what you've done there. Everything fits so seamlessly that it all looks stock. Fantastic brother, fantastic!!

Thats an absolutely stunning bike, Jodie. I love it. You probably get "the grin" just knowing its sitting in YOUR garage.

Man, if Buell were to clone her for a retro tuber......

I may have missed it, but are those stock s1 bars youre using?

Thanks Guys : )

Yeah Buell should do a tuber again.

Spiderman I'm 6'5" tall and the S3 peg position suits my lankiness : )

Torque they are the stock S3T low bars, I think they are the same as an S1's. Once I have some spare cash I'm putting some tapered bars on it.

I like the Buell decal on the swingarm too,

Here's a video link from when I had it all mocked up and ridable.(note poor burnout-front tyre slipped on an extension lead on the shed floor! thats my excuse anyway!)

Joe that sled is too much!
The only bad thing about this is that when you are done with it,
We wont have another exciting installment to look forward to you should forward finished shots of your bike to Buell for inclusion in the next eddition of Fuel,

Thanks for taking the additional time to share this project with us..

I'd like gloss black wheels and a red swing arm please

Joe, I would try to place the cable ties where they are less visible, and turn them around so the bulky clip is hidden too. Where necessary, I'd use red cable ties if you can't get them out of sight.

Braided rear brake line would be on my shopping list.

Glad you're sorting the blue spring too, lol.

Looking great. I can't believe the pace you work at either. Does your wife still recognise you?

Looks sweet! That Euro seat has such clean lines, and your tail [fender] addition blends great with the rest of the bike. I love how clean that turned out by the way, would love to have one of those to keep the rain off my back. Do you think it's doable with tin snips and light sheet metal?

What do you think about a headlight cage?

When's the 88" project? That engine will look so great in black. I hope you get to ride a while before you tear into the motor...

Last year at Homecoming, several Buell engineers commented that they watched 2 threads on Badweb. Yours, and my Ulybolt project.

The cable ties don't bother me as they were there from the factory.

I had to stretch the original brake line(the steel section) to make it long enough to fit. I guess i'd have to get a braided one custom made.

The wife is always in the shed telling me to hurry the up! And get the dam thing done!!! : )

You could use sheet metal but because of the vibrations may not last very long. I used the same thickness steel as the rest of the tail light mount.

Headlight cage like on the City X? Not really into it.

Here's the tank Decal's painted (The Mrs idea)and stuck on with thin double sided tape

I remade the oil cooler bracket out of ally.

I MacGyvered up some steering stops out of radiator hose then contact glued them to the frame.

Left side

Right side

I'm only needing the oil lines and the forks and shes done!

Cheers

Joe, that wasn't a criticism. I just think cable ties look nasty on anything, and your frame is bright red!!!

There are places that sell braided brake hose in many bore sizes, along with a selection of relevant 'connects', in kit form. Hose is cut to the customers desired length and match up the required ends, and it just pushes together. No fancy machining, done in minutes. Typically a rear line should cost no more than £20 here.

Of course, Goodridge will custom make a line, for not that much more money, and the component quality is second to none and has the added benefit of being machine crimped and sealed.

With all of that lovely work, your wife I hope would be proud to see what you have accomplished a true one of a kind..

think of all of the wannabe "arteests" that make horrid crap that they call art,
You My friend ARE an Artist and that is beautiful work, as stated above sadly I will never get the opportunity to see it in the flesh.

V74 the lock to lock is shit house! Very much like my old Ducati : ) 20 point U turns! But I don't care. The XB yokes are about 5mm closer to the frame. The stock triples can't be used, If you compare the lower yokes the XB's are not straight and that is because of the tapered section on the fork legs. Hence if you used the stock yokes the forks can't be clamped properly. Do you understand my dribble? : )

Thanks Jim, I'd love to be at the Homecoming but don't think I could stand the stress of my baby being shipped all the way over there(remember Burt Munroe what happened to his Indian?) plus I can't afford it : (
. If your ever coming to Queensland I'd be happy to have you come have a look, I've always enjoyed your questions and comments. By the way the Mrs is very pleased with how it's turned out, But just wants it done so she can see me out riding it : )
As you all may know it's been awhile since this Buell's been on the road!

Cheers
